favourite SONGWRITERS?
I'm sure there has been a thread like this before but uhh I don't care :)
Songwriters I especially like are: Rivers Cuomo (sure, he hasn't really did anything decent in awhile but Blue Album and Pinkerton are songwriting gold!) Elliott Smith (obvious choice, but he was one of a kind, very beautiful songs) John Frusciante (not his RHCP stuff, but his solo stuff is some of the most unique songwriting I've ever heard) give me some of your choicessssss |

ok Derek, i'm really sorry for being a twat/cunt/dick, but how in hell can you say you're from "Scotland and write such grammatical abomination as "He hasn't really DID..."!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't give a flying fuck usually, but it just is strange to be Scottish and write like you're huh Italian (sorry Nic) or Polish (oops sorry mil) or French (doh sorry SYRfox). anyways my fave songwriters would probably be. - Thurston - Black Francis - SM - Lou Barlow and countless others but these 4 really inspired me a greatdeal when i started out writing stuff, and they still do in spite of all the NEW music i swallow daily. |

d. boon nick drake yamatsuka eye (prolly one a lot of people dont think about, but a lot of his lyrics are abstract and incredible) people focus too much on singer songwriter folk types when thinking of the best "song writers", even though someone like bruce loose of flipper writes lkyrics as amazing as any dude chillin in a coffee shop with an accoustic guitar. |
o, fuck, forgot these too:
sir richard bishop/alvarius b/alan bishop HENDRIX!!!!!!!! (because of his guitar playing people often overlook how phenomenal his lyrics were) |
