fucking ticketweb fucked me out of deftones!
It was a surprise 'guerrilla' show that they announced yesterday, and the venue ONLY was selling Will-call slots at ticketweb.com, and it either sold out our is tripping or whatever, but though I was right on time, I did not get them.
You win some you lose some: Abuna zebesemayat, Abuna zebesemayat Abuna zebesemayat Eetabine Igzee'O West'e Mensut! |
it's probably for the better.
|
Deftones? Ewwwwww noooooo!
|
|
probably because you have no taste.
|
haha, my dad took me and my friends to see deftones when i was 7. he got hammered and put earblockers in and passed out. meanwhile, me and my friends were witnessing the best rock show of our pre teen lives (for me only springsteen when i was 10 was better)

because of one particular band that I like that you dont? So does my lack of taste mean that the music that we share in common is also in poor taste because I have no taste and selected it, or does music you like have taste so that if I like it too that one as taste, but not the others? |
take a chill pill.
you have a variety of options ![]() |

thank you. my friend was in the neighborhood and talked the dude at the box office, cuz the he had taken the phone of the hook, and so it sold out in literally two seconds, which was expected, but they have a stash of tickets at the door, and so we are gonna go right now and post up for a few hours and see if we cant be the first or tenth to get those tickets at the door tonight @830! I guess I always will be a deadhead, going entirely out of my way for live music. |
Deftones FUCKING RULE!
White Pony is so badass, so is Around the Fur. |

The only album I don't like is s/t.
Around the Fur, Adrenaline, White Pony, and Saturday Night Wrist are fucking great. Probably the band I've liked the longest that still make good music besides Melt Banana (and maybe Tool if I'm feeling generous). |
Saturday Night Wrist was a good progression, they're one of the only nu-metal bands who realised all that stuff was lame and decided to change. Seriously, Chino's favourite bands include Weezer, MBV and Cocteau Twins, so it'd make sense for them to do something more ehm... atmospheric and I think they really achieved that with Saturday Night Wrist.
I can't wait for the new album. |

be careful, analfingerfucking kills yr brain cells for good and they ain't coming back ever |
Yeah, Chino's the man.
I love Deftones. One of the few bands who actually knows how to do a good cover song... |

yeah... |
greedrex, you are a very angry man.

That album's great. Diverse, atmospheric, etc. The only stinker is Pink Cellphone. Great album. One of the best of the year when it came out. What's wrong with it? It's probably their best album songwriting ever. RATS, Mein, Beware, combat, Cherry Waves.. all excellent songs. Deftones have maybe my favorite drummer of any band currently around. |
The post-rock song on the album rules.
|
Yes.
Totally unexpected. |
awesome title as well.
Knife Party is their best song though I think. Generic choice, but I mean, come on. It's perfect! |
Yep.
That and Digital Bath and Nosebleed and Dai the Flu are my favs. |
|
"Rock critics usually reserve a special place for Deftones above or at least away from the rest of the turn-of-the-century metal movement [...] Deftones have always seemed more curious, more willing to incorporate traditionally revered sounds like dream pop or D.C. hardcore into their Northern California alt-metal."

Deftones are an EXCELLENT band.
well above any of their more or less comparable contemporaries. however they DID screw up on the last one and went Wwwaaayyy cheesy. Lack of inspiration edginess all gone filler fest i felt let down gimme back the old Deftones please. My copy of Around the Fur is wasted form playing it too much |
Okay.
The new one sounds up your alley then. Deftones are currently in the studio writing and recording their next release, Eros, which will once again utilize the production services of Terry Date. Deftones have been writing the album since Fall 2007. As of December 7, 2007, six to eight songs were finished and the album is expected to be released in the fall of 2008. Chino Moreno has described the album as weird, unorthodox, featuring a lot of atmosphere and soundscaping, and having "fuck you, I hope you die!" style aggression. He has also stated that he won't be contributing on guitar, instead focusing on his vocals, and will leave guitar duties entirely to Stephen Carpenter. Carpenter will be utilizing his signature 8-String guitar with ESP, the Stef B-8. They started recording the album on April 14th, 2008. 8 STRING GUITAR |

o 8 strings what does he need so many strings for????? will listen fo'sho thx for the tip Adam |
Personally, I still hope Deftones eventually do some complete MBV-style thing.
I take it from interviews and such that Chino is more into that kind of stuff while the other band members ... aren't. I think that's the biggest problem with Deftones perhaps. As much as I like them, they do feel like they're held back by.. something. |
they weren't held back at all on Around the Fur, they were perfect.
they kind of lost it as of late and what you say does make sense |
the only favorite band of mine that i haven't seen yet.
|

mine too, but they still got it live trust me! |
