would you pay for new sonic youth album?
if it will be realese by internet / mp3 download ?
|
I don't quite understand what you're asking dude. If it was only released online, would I pay for it? Or will I be paying for it on any format when it's released?
|
i need something tangeable i can hold in my hand.
|
I said no.
|
Me too.
|
I'd much prefer a CD release, but if it was only a downloadable album, I would still get it.
|
I downloaded RR and burned it when it was released online and then bought the CD when it came out. I 'spect I'd do the same again.

I know I'd NEVER pay for an mp3. I'd certainly download a flac of a new release though. But I would buy the actual cd/packaging in a store or through deepdiscount.com |
I don't pay for mp3s.
I pay for vinyl. |
I'd prefer a CD realese too, but
you remember In Rainbows by Radiohead? asking of somiething like that. |
yes if it was soley on mp3.. but thats not gonna happen.......
yes if it was on cd only...... in rainbows was released on cd as well as mp3 tho! |
well how many bought the mp3 release of syr7 when it was a vinyl release only!
|
why should I want less for the money?
|
there's no way a thurston moore release won't be available on physical format.
|
I exclusively buy stuff on vinly
& exclusively never pay for mp3's |
I think I would never pay for a MP3, Sonic Youth or not
|
this board confuses me.

thats it. paying for stuff that can be reproduced unlimited times without any kind of effort and actually not being something on its own is just not my thing |

the new album is reel to reel only..... download that!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
I would vote for minidisc!!!
that media is just pure sex and indestrucitble |

fuck that shit. gimme sweet vinyl pls. btw matador gives you free mp3 w/ vinyl purchase. |
i would never buy a mp3. i would buy the cd and probably not the vinyl. the reason be is that i have a snic youth collection on cd (aside from the vinyl syr releases).
|
mmm, in my country is hard find a disc of sonic, i lost the patient and i'm gonna find in the web the syr7 and 8 they're still not avalible in chile, i hope the new album will be released in cd and i hope that would be in store as soon as would be released.

if it was only released as a download and we had the option to pay or not i think i'd pay, but hopefully this won't happen as i also prefer to have the actual cd with artwork (allthough nicfit could make us some artwork!) or better still vinyl Quote:

pauly: i have friends who have reel to reel machines, they play live with it, they can make a good rip of the new sy album.
stu: that's because mr. thurston has finally sold out and wants people to line up outside the apple store for his solo set, just like the jonas brothers. |
If it were mp3 only, then I'd pay for that. If I have a choice, I'll buy a cd.
|
CD all the way. I won't pay for mp3s.
|
CD or vinyl, I'm a collector by nature, I almost have to have some sort of physical product.
|
they should release it as a live show on the moon never to be reproduced on pain of death.

thats because its magical |
of course i'd pay for a Sonic Youth album
Music is something which i believe to be a fucking bargain. Even an "overpriced" cd at £12 is worth it. Am i happy i paid £12 for A Thousand Leaves? Of course i am. Is it worth £12? its worth a whole lot more than that! How can you put a price on Art and the effects it has on you pay up fuckers |
i value Sonic Youth's music a whole lot more than £12
|
I think the question was reffering to sth. different. If they would offer the new album for download the way radiohead did, which means you're free to pay any ammount or not, would you pay for it.
I would do it the way i did with "In Rainbows": Order the vinyl release and download the mp3s for free. The way Matador handles this seems pretty cool. |
