You'll never guess who turned up on stage with Primal Scream last night!!
So yeah I saw Primal Scream at the Hammersmith Apollo last night, they were absolutely killer, and I was having a great time, until two thirds of the way through the set, they had a surprise for us, and the night got ever better!:
![]() Thats right people, KEVIN SHIELDS played guitar with Primal Scream once again! And my god, what a sound they made. Kevin finished off their set with a mini holocaust (7 mins), and all was well with the world. (I really think Shields must be starting to recognise me, at 4 of the 7 gigs he's done in the South of England in the last year (or, indeed, the past 16 years) I've been right at the front gauping at him) |
He's a twat.

i've never felt such all consuming apathy as when i saw and read this thread
hahahaa
Cool, what song did he play?
He played songs from XTRMTR mainly
If Primal Scream could ever make a record as good as XTRMNTR I would be happy. That's the only LP from them I like actually, but I fucking LOVE it
Kevin who?
Can anyone reccomend a good website for medieval witch illustrations?

But man, that is pretty sweet that he showed up. Gotta love special guests. Reminds me of how the Rolling Stones would walk in on small venues and play a set with the rest of the bands on the bill
The only real memorable special guest appearance I witnessed was John Cale at a SY show back in 02. Not super suprising as the bill was Paul Westerberg, SY, and Patti Smith. Oh the Polyphonic Spree played, but I left after 5 minutes of their set.

Ha ha, reps for all.

I guessed it before even opening the thread. I expect to claim my reward prize within the week. thank you
Primal Scream were fucking amazing on that Exterminator tour. One of my life's regrets is that I went to see them again on their next tour expecting them to be just as good the second time.
On paper Evil Heat should have been just as good as XTRMTR, they had a pretty similar style and approach on that album, but it just doesn't sound as powerful as the album before, XTRMTR's sound just came out of fucking nowhere (as do most Primal Scream albums) so Evil Heat was comparitively weaker, so I imagine the tour was fairly cack. You could have been easily fooled into thinking the show I was at was on that tour though, they played only four tunes from the new'un, and most from XTRMTR, largely due, I imagine, to the presence of the producer and guitarist for that record.
I saw these in Leeds last night. Really enjoyable gig, and was pleased to see that they mainly played Exterminator/Evil Heat (Shoot Speed/Kill Light being the highlight), with only four new songs and a few crowd-pleasing older songs during the encore. They were more modest and communicative than I was expecting, for some reason. They ended with a great (well, effective) noise section.
What is their new album like? The songs seemed good live. |
Bono?
I randomly saw them last night. I didn't even know I was going to it till a few hours before haha. It was actually really fun. They're better live than on record.
