favorite BEATLES album

atsonicpark 02.11.2009 09:52 AM

Don't really care for this band but the white album has the most decent songs by them on it so I'll go that route.

noisereductions 02.11.2009 10:03 AM

I was torn between Sgt Pepper's and White Album. I hit Sgt Pepper but then immediately felt Voter's Remorse. Count my vote as for the White Album in reality.

Rob Instigator 02.11.2009 10:03 AM

right up there on the top shelf of all time rob instigator bands along with sonic youth.
My favorite is the white album. but I can rok to all of them.

my least favorite is Let It Be.

This Is Not Here 02.11.2009 10:07 AM

People, it's all about Revolver. I reckon Sgt Peppers was the peak of their career, it's not to say it went 'downhill' after that, but how can you top two albums so unbeleivably perfect?

EvdWee 02.11.2009 10:36 AM

abbey road. best album ever made.

Rob Instigator 02.11.2009 10:55 AM

I Want You (She's So Heavy) off of Abbey Road is my fave Beatles track ever

noisereductions 02.11.2009 10:58 AM

mine is "Sexy Sadie" probably. Off of Whitey.

yep , that's why i voted Abbey Road, too.

EvdWee 02.11.2009 11:19 AM

my reason too!

like the jazz and noise parts.

Rob Instigator 02.11.2009 11:22 AM

I love how it goes from jazz time to blues beat back to jazz and how it is a fucking JAM man, and the bassline on it is hard as fuck to play.

SuperCreep 02.11.2009 12:13 PM

It's usually a battle between Revolver, s/t, and Abbey Road. I went with Revolver for now.

Hooray! good choice

StevOK 02.11.2009 12:19 PM

Why no love for Magical Mystery Tour?

Rob Instigator 02.11.2009 12:47 PM

not a proper album? more like an EP with a collection of singles and B sides?

still great stuff, except for all you need is love. ha ha, and maybe hellow goodbye

Better_Than_You 02.11.2009 04:37 PM

I went with Sgt Pepper.

I grew up on that album. it was my paps favorite.
I'm just following in his footsteps.

Shaves in the dark trying to save paper
Sleeps in a hole in the road
Saving up to buy some clothes
Keeps a ten-bob note up his nose

Although personally I'd put Sgt Peppers just above Revolver (and would extend things to include Rubber Soul as the third node in their triad of perfection) I totally agree with the main point here. With regards the white album, I've never understood the affection it gets on here. It's just too patchy.

Rob Instigator 02.11.2009 05:11 PM

I love the white abum because I want to hear from every single beatle and in every single genre they choose to work in and every single weird idea they had and the white album is all that

and revolution 9 RULES

SonikJesus 02.11.2009 05:14 PM

Paul is dead!!!!

deflinus 02.11.2009 05:16 PM

i prefer george harrison's All Things Must Pass than the entire Beatles catalog

lechaoscestmoi 02.11.2009 05:16 PM

i like the white album, just find it impossible to listen to the whole thing without falling asleep in the middle, then waking up towards the end almost having a heart attack.

no love for rubber soul here, huh?

lechaoscestmoi 02.11.2009 05:42 PM

in my life = arguably the most perfect pop song ever recorded.
only rivaled by "for no one" and "she's leaving home" for my fav beatles track of all time.

That's always been my favourite. Basically, it's got most of their best songs on: Blue Jay Way, Strawberry Fields Forever, All You Need Is Love, Baby You're A Rich Man. And I think they hit upon their ideal sound: experimental, quirky yet accessible, classic pop songwriting - not going so far into that vaudeville wankery that always put me off Sgt Peppers. I know everyone is entitled to their opinion, blah blah, but I don’t understand how anyone can prefer Sgt Peppers to, say, Magical Mystery Tour or Abbey Road – When I’m 64? Fixing A Hole? The title-track? Unless it’s something to do with loving the production – loving the intricacies that I can’t recognise or appreciate – in terms of songs and songwriting, it’s SHIT!*

*quite good but over-rated.

SuperCreep 02.11.2009 06:47 PM

blech. I really don't like When I'm Sixty-Four at all. It's so shmaltzy and dopey and disrupts the flow of the album for me.

Then again, I love Within You Without You, so what do I know?

pokkeherrie 02.11.2009 09:26 PM

I agree with The White Album being a bit patchy. I like Revolver and Abbey Road more as overall constant albums (except that I don't like the song Ringo sings on each of them). Revolver also has probably my favourite Beatles song, if I could choose only one: I'm Only Sleeping.

I still vote for The White album though, because it has the most good songs on it.

uhler 02.11.2009 09:57 PM

rubber soul

Revolver, with Rubber Soul close.

pbradley 02.12.2009 01:03 AM

Beatles, hmmm, never been able to formulate a solid opinion on their music. They're occasionally hit but mostly miss, to me. With that, I don't like any particular album but select songs off of albums.

fishmonkey 02.12.2009 04:57 AM

i picked "other" and by other i mean None of em.
