when i saw that it was 9 minutes long i was hoping some douche was going to do an indepth breakdown of why sonic youth is not real music, that would have been hilarious

The guy is complaining because their songs are 'easy' to play on Guitar Hero.

'Those songs are so easy, my 10-year-old sister can do Kool Thing on expert, and she can't even beat any other song on GH3 on hard. Just goes to prove Sonic Youth music is just easy, overly simple, pointless and boring.'

I hear Sonic Youth hatin' all the time but mostly in the too hip vernacular "boring" than "garbled noise."

This is why I HATE Free Bird.

You have to wonder about the intelligence level of someone who would seriously judge a band's music by how easy their songs are to play on a toy guitar in a video game.

Shut up, dude. Difficult to play = sounds good

I really don't hate them, either. But their significance has been reduced to the corny "Free Bird!" joke in between the set of whatever band. I really don't hear them that often.

My mom had me burn her a cd of freebird all the guitar solo stuff at the end taken out (so the song is only like 7 minutes long) and she listens to it ALL THE TIME.

Well it is a great song and probably, pound for pound, a better one than Kool Thing - which I've never particularly liked. Although this has nothing whatsoever to do with how easy or difficult it is to play. I say this as someone who struggles to play anything not on either the Ramones or the JAMC's first album (and even then I need tabs).

This video and the comments beneath it reminded me somewhat of the Sonic Youth Fucking Suck facebook group. The creator of the page writes something to the effect of "they're shite, all they do is a put a mess of tuneless noise at the start or right in the middle of their songs and everyone says they're genius"

Of course, I found this very ignorant, and it ashamedly overlooks an essential component of Sonic Youth - tuneless noise at the END of songs.
