I'm basically bragging

but I just can't help myself, I'm too happy!

I got into UCLA!!!!!!!!! It is a major relief having it in the bag, as opposed to people telling me "you'll get in for sure." When/if I get my acceptance letter from Berkeley, I'll have to decide between that, Santa Barbara, and LA. And now that I'm confronted with the reality of the situation, I just don't know what I want anymore.

Anyway, I'm fucking stoked!!!!

demonrail666 03.19.2009 05:47 PM

Congratulations, seriously. What are you going to be studying?

Alex's Trip 03.19.2009 05:52 PM

English. My plan: Become an English teacher if I can't find anything better to do along the way.

Norma J 03.19.2009 05:52 PM

Congrats, man.

Tell me, what's the better college and what not?
I've heard of them all a lot throughout my life time through Hollywood.

floatingslowly 03.19.2009 05:56 PM

congrats.

my progeny was recently accepted into a charter school. it's giving him panic attacks.

stay frosty.

ploesj 03.19.2009 06:03 PM

congratulations! you'll do great.

Alex's Trip 03.19.2009 06:04 PM

Thanks all. And Norma J, I think academically the order of schools goes like this: Berkeley > LA > Santa Barbara.

terminal pharmacy 03.19.2009 06:19 PM

congratualtions, that is excellent news. not sure i understand how the usa university system works though, here in australia we just go to what ever university we feel like.

yep, same here. it does depend on what you did before though, if you had this very technical education you can't start any university. and if you've been doing mainly languages, you might have to take extra math classes before starting science or so.

pbradley 03.19.2009 07:48 PM

My brother went to UCLA for English. Applied to Berkeley but got denied.

Have fun being a number.

drrrtyboots 03.19.2009 08:03 PM

I'm frantically checking the mailbox day after day waiting to hear back from my top choice colleges. They're not really up there with Berkeley or UCLA but they're all still strong schools.

atsonicpark 03.19.2009 08:11 PM

yes

Pax Americana 03.19.2009 08:14 PM

Congrats!

Quite.

All of my apps were online as well but for some reason they all see fit to torture me with the wait for the USPS to arrive day-to-day. Ironic since a lot of them claim to be "going green" blah blah blah.

Where do you live/what schools did you apply to?

SuchFriendsAreDangerous 03.19.2009 10:45 PM

you should be bragging, UCLA is a very good school, one of the last vestiges of a decent education in California.. more than likely it is a better choice than Berkley..

StevOK 03.19.2009 11:35 PM

I already said it in the post comething completely irrelevant thread, but CONGRATS!

davenotdead 03.19.2009 11:58 PM

dude, I'd go to UCLA... congrats dude.

phoenix 03.20.2009 03:15 AM

pbradley 03.20.2009 03:49 AM

I live in New Jersey so they're all east coast schools, waiting to hear back from Bennington, Pratt, Hampshire, Skidmore, and Emerson. If none of them are kind in their financial aid i'll be going to SUNY Purchase for creative writing and journalism. I applied to Alfred, Champlain, Green Mountain, Goucher as safety schools and got into all of them.

The Lung 03.20.2009 08:58 AM

Congrats! I'm applying to Berkeley for my 3rd year placement. My whole life plan revolves around getting in

nicfit 03.20.2009 09:19 AM

nobody repped me :(...

Well good luck and congrats on your schools. I have a friend who considered going to Pratt but she decided against an east coast move.

thats a no brainer.. UCLA is full of people who worked really hard to get there.. USC is full of trust fund kids and private school elitists, many of whom are entirely retarded.. further because it is a private school the programs are much more lenient to appease the masses..

Alex's Trip 03.20.2009 12:11 PM

Not to mention it is way more expensive and not in the greatest area of LA.

That's because USC is crap. Really, it is. I kind of wish I'd applied to some UC's but I didn't really care what college I went to. Meh, maybe for grad scool I'll go.

EVOLghost 03.21.2009 11:16 AM

I go to UCLA......University Closest to LaGrange Ave.......

drrrtyboots 03.22.2009 04:32 PM

I got accepted into Pratt and Bennington over the weekend. Bennington is offering me $28,000 a year to attend...I'm shocked.

ihateyouth 03.22.2009 04:33 PM

Good for you!

: )

drrrtyboots 03.22.2009 04:37 PM

thanks!

static-harmony 03.22.2009 04:59 PM

Congrats to both of you guys.

And UCLA is so much better than USC. I always wonder why such a private school is in the bad area of L.A.

Alex's Trip 03.26.2009 06:56 PM

Still bragging. I got into Berkeley too!

drrrtyboots 03.26.2009 07:08 PM

Congrats!
