my record shelf

I need to arrange everything, because I have been listening to stuff and not putting it back in alpha order.
the three white boxes on the top are my 7" singles.

This Is Not Here 05.20.2009 10:37 AM

Wow. Just... well done.

This Is Not Here 05.20.2009 10:56 AM

Hardly compares too Rob's shelf, I've only been collecting since I was 16, but here's my records at home in their 'record cupboard', in no particular order. Slight storage issue now in that they're now competing for space with my bitchin' boots and dirty washing.

noisereductions 05.20.2009 11:01 AM

I dont have much vinyl. Mostly cuz I dont have much room for it. I love 7"s though. I'll say that.

demonrail666 05.20.2009 11:02 AM

Those are some seriously kick ass record shelves.

afterthefact 05.20.2009 11:08 AM

Here's what I got going on:

Nah, I just straight up lied. I only have like 3 records, cause I don't even have a working record player. I plan to get one though, I really do.

demonrail666 05.20.2009 11:17 AM

This is where I keep the S-T section of my 1957-58 7" vinyls.

Edit: Not really.

demonrail666 05.20.2009 11:18 AM

Oh, me and Afterthefact just told exactly the same lie in exactly the same thread at exactly the same time. (well I took longer looking for a suitable jpeg than he did, but either way).

This Is Not Here 05.20.2009 11:20 AM

hell, why not, it's still a collection I'm just as proud of:

Ha, and here I thought I inspired you.

If I could do a scrollable screenshot of my itunes, I would.

demonrail666 05.20.2009 11:22 AM

What are the two DVDs that look the same, three along from Elephant?

afterthefact 05.20.2009 11:23 AM

Looks like Faulty Towers to me.

I think we bumped into one another while browsing the aisles of google image. I was the little fellow in the sailors outfit, with the limp.

demonrail666 05.20.2009 11:35 AM

I have one J Geils Band CD. That's it. I don't see a single J Geils Band CD in any of those collections. That's why you have so many records. Compensation. One J Geils Band CD, and a fleshlight. All a man needs.

I remember you. I told my apprentice to distract you while I stole your change purse, but he wanted no part.

You've got a cool looking place, Gex.

gmku 05.20.2009 11:55 AM

This isn't too related to the OP but what the hell, I'm a senior member around here so I can post whatever I want. I've been inspired to go minimal in my apartment. I've taken down all wall art, put away all decorative bowls, baskets, etc, have put away all books and magazines in closets, and have kept furniture to minium. I've completely decluttered. I'm also getting rid of "stuff" (but not records). I'm finding that the more I simplify or declutter my surroundings, the more clearheaded I feel.

afterthefact 05.20.2009 12:00 PM

They say the way you live and the condition of your home directly reflects your state of mind.

Cluttered Home = Cluttered Mind

Organized Home = Organized Mind

greedrex 05.20.2009 12:11 PM

^^ of course

afterthefact 05.20.2009 12:14 PM

Well, it seems obvious, but some people don't realize how closely they are related. It's not so much that your house being cluttered with clutter your mind, but also the fact that your mind being cluttered will cause you to clutter your house.

This is all obvious of course, I'm just sayin'...

One very simple thing--without clutter I find things easier. When living conditions are simpler, it's easier to stay organized. I used to probably waste at least a few minutes in the morning hunting for all the shit I needed before I left the house--keys, lunch bag, this folder, that letter, etc. Now there's a place for all this stuff, it's all easy to see, and I just grab it.

gmku 05.20.2009 12:32 PM

J. Geils Band pretty much sucks, by the way. I have Monkey Island on LP and I can't stand it.

The counterpart to this is, if you can exersize absolute parity of mind, you're not a terrifically clever person. My organisation always proceeds emotionally, it's not a filing system. I know where everything is, but there's no hope in hell for anyone else.

My record filing system, yesteday.

You should have named this thread :

I'm so ashamed of you I won't read any farther.

Grado blue series. Why?

demonrail666 05.20.2009 01:08 PM

it must be the balance on your tone arm then.

gmku 05.20.2009 01:09 PM

No, I think it's the coke in the drug-addled band.

demonrail666 05.20.2009 01:16 PM

No it's definitely your system. Either that or maybe a poor pressing.

gmku 05.20.2009 01:17 PM

No, I'm beginning to think it's your brain. Cut it out.

afterthefact 05.20.2009 01:30 PM

Can't it be both?

demonrail666 05.20.2009 01:32 PM

a poor pressing and an unbalanced tone arm? it's unlikely but obviously possible.

radarmaker 05.20.2009 01:40 PM

As it looks right now...
