Primitive sounding avant-rock bands...

Im looking for some bands that qualify as being 'avant primitiv', bands like Aufgehoben, early Boredoms, Oper'Azione Nafta, Heavy Winged, etc...

thanks.

The original Rocket from the Tombs and very early Pere Ubu come immediately to mind. After all, they invented the term "avant-garage".

check out aural fit, japanese freakout band of awesome awesomeness, who descibe themselves hence:

Actuality & PhilosophySomebody told "LOUD PSYCHEDELIC ROCK SOUND". This impression is almost correct. "Aural fit" is nominally PSYCHEDELIC Band.
  • Pursue "tough sound" with simple equipment as few as possible.
  • Pursue "best synthesis" artistic with physical.

almost as good as "boredoms is like a moon on a lake, only there is no moon and no lake, only boredoms" (one of my fave band type person quotes ever :D ). download the mp3 from here: http://www.gate-d.com/~auralfit/sonics/sonics.htm

think funhouse stooges churn scuzz riffage, also a bit like brit dirtypsych (not a real genre, i just made it up) like groundhogs/pink fairies live damaged blues. pure filth, i love it :) they've just put out a second album but if you can get hold of the first it is well worth it.

batreleaser 05.27.2009 09:32 PM

thanks, ive heard the name, sounds awesome. not everyday you hear the groundhogs and the pink fairies mentioned, awesome.

bloodcrystallisetosand 05.27.2009 09:33 PM

and though it may be (comparatively) a bit pussy, and probably absorbed into yr kinetic pathways many a moon ago, and seeing how i've just mentioned it, funhouse by the stooges. go on, give it another blast, you deserve it.

bloodcrystallisetosand 05.27.2009 09:36 PM

gotta love the hogs man, split was a groundbreaking album. oh, mandies and mescaline round uncle harries by pink fairies is top, they were always best making an acid fried mess of themselves on stage, and mandies n mescaline is bbc session takes with a killer 16 minute version of uncle harry's last freakout. not sure if that's what yr looking for, but i love a bit of acidfuzzpsych and always try to encourage others to persue its righteous path.

fucked up 70s proto punk and psychedelic is the best, the cleveland scene was and still is mindblowing.

I bet you'd like the Japanese band Pre if you haven't already found them. They became My Space friends with my band, which was kind of an honor since they initiated it, and they're actually pretty big. Not worlds away from Melt Banana, but just as you unique, so different.
