Favorite Ghostface album?
Mine is definitely PRETTY TONY. That record is so unique and perfect. it's sister-album, 718 (recorded with the Theodore Unit) is also great.
|
I've only heard Fish Scales and More Fish.

the tune with missy is great but of the 5 or 6 ghostface records i've got it is to my mind his weakest. my favourite is supreme clientele |
I'm only really familiar with Supreme Clientele, so I'll go with that.

ironman slightly edges out supreme clientel, but only barely

you need to re-listen. The Missy track is okay, but "Biscuits," "Save Me Dear," "Bathtub," "Run" and on and on. It's a great album that I feel like a lot of people didn't really get on first listen, and then tossed it aside. Obviously I love IRONMAN, SUPREME, and FISHSCALE... but this one blew me away. |
supreme clientele by far
pretty tony is really good, but i remember in the months prior to it's release alot of really good tracks leaked that ended up getting cut due to sample issues i like biscuits, kunta fly shit, beat the clock, metal lungies,it's over, holla,be this way(!!!!!) ,run and love. I dig the philly soul vibes on it 718 is pretty good too, i didn't know it existed until i saw it in the new releases section, i dig it but i'm not into trife and he's on almsot the whole album |
wellcharge, a lot of those leaked tracks ended up (some with alternative titles) on HIDDEN DARTS: SPECIAL EDITION.
|
i love all those little tracks with no choruses that surround tush on pretty tony
and holla is one of the best ghost tracks ever |
dude "Bathtub" is ridiculous... "if she diss me again I'ma fuckup her Benz"
|
Supreme Clientele. The only one that I can listen to from start to end, without any filler (well, maybe a skit or two). I love all of the RZA beats on it too (especially on the near enough full-group track) and that isn't always the case on the later, solo albums. BTW did the Ghostface song Sunshine ever come out anything? my favourite track of his, think it was supposed to be on Bulletproof Wallets but wasn't (sample issues, no doubt).
|
yeah "The Sun" is on a couple of his albums... it's on PUT IT ON THE LINE which was the Ghostface/Trife album. And then it ended up on HIDDEN DARTS: SPECIAL EDITION (along with some other sample-troubled outtakes).
|
supreme clientele.
|
Quote:
Haha probably one of my problems with finding it is that I've been thinking it was called Sunshine. Thanks for the info.! |
Yeah, a lot of the titles changed too... probably since the original titles were marred with sample-clearance issues, so they were changed slightly to fly under the radar on these indie label releases. For instance, "My Guitar" became "Black Cream." "Box In Hand" became "When You Walk." etc.
|
Supreme only for Buck 50 and only for the supercalifragilistic flip line.
|

haha, yeah that's a good one. |
Supreme Clientele, easily. Though Fishscale is really good.
|
everyone has already said it but i feel teh need to weigh in. supreme clientele!
|
SUPREME and FISHSCALE is what I figured most would say.
|
ironman for sho
|
NOONE said bulletproof wallets? come on...its not bad....theres some crazy shit on there, and it definitely makes sense as the bridge between clientele and pretty tony
|
I think BULLETPROOF WALLETS and BIG DOE REHAB are the weakest in his discography.
|
Yo, check these up top murderous

^ I love Fishscale. But as previously mentioned, PRETTY TONY is really my fav. So this one was kind of not as good to me when I first got it. Don't get me wrong. It's great, but the multiple producers makes it have a more scattered feel than the very thematic-ness of PT.

The best part in "The Sun" is when he says "You can't stare at him long, cos your face'll do like this"... the way he is basically saying "look at my face to see what I mean" and you can actually visualize that without thinking about it. Y'know? That to me is a perfect example of why GK is an amazing lyricist.

Iron Man>Pretty Tony>Supreme>Fishscale

iron man. thrn supreme. the rest are shit apart from a couple trakscssss

so wrong. |
I don't like RnB pop shite.

which is fine, and really doesn't make yr point. |
I think it explains my point perectly: every album after supreme contains songs written specifically to acheive pop chart success. For example - Tush, Back like that, Never be the same again, Ghostshowers.. etc etc.... Ghost admits this himself. It's RapnBullshit which is a shame considering the wu were against such fucking tripe. Sad hypocrites
|
Whatever you say. Though "Tush" is a (somewhat) weak track, PRETTY TONY is a brilliant record. I'm not missing out on anything, so...
|
not a ghost album, but his rap on "cash still rules", first time I heard that it gave me chills (how it just cuts out)/
|
I listened to "Supreme Clientele" along with the other Wu Tang records literally almost daily in high school. Nothing was better than aimlessly driving around stoned as shit listening to those records.
"Nutmeg" is one of hip hop's great opening tracks. |
Quote:
If we're doing Ghostface raps on other Wu album, I frequently am just ASTOUNDED by how good he is on I Can't Go To Sleep, especially in the video, where you can see him apparently on the verge of tears as he spits. Love love love that track. |
ive really only heard 2. iron man and big doe rehab.
i love iron man but big doe rehab is weak aside from yolanda's house which is one of my most favorite hip hop songs ever. i generally hate it when people make beats with electric guitars trying to get that rock sound. hate it. there are a few of those on big doe... also the beat that uses the i will survive sample(?) on big doe rehab. i cant even get through the first 10 seconds of that. ill have to check out all of the other ghost face records that yall have been mentioning. |
