What are your favourite/least favourite non-musical sounds?
 

Favourite:
the sound of bricklayers at work
water
night bickering between cats
long distance boats

Least favourite:
boiling kettle
creaking doors
people having orgasms

Favourite:
The sound of the motorway late at night from a distance.
The Silence of the streets when England are playing (eerily beautiful round here - everyone's in the pub)
Bus sounds
Ladies whispering in my ear.
Thunderstorms (I have hours of recordings)
Birdsong (especially around 5-6AM)

Least favourite:
People's conversations in pubs (Either my hearing is overly sensitive, or everyone shouts these days)
Mobile phones.
Mobile phone conversations.
Polystyrene.

Fav's:
Birds chirping
sex next door
wind
rain
Breaking glass

Least favs:
road works
cars screeching/hooting
cats moaning
children crying
Drunk football hooligans trying to sing

Good:

Birdsong
The sea
The wind
dry leaves

Not good:

Talk radio played loud in cars
Loud TV next door

Not good: The noise inside the cabins of trains at rush hour...

Good:
Happy babies
Jet engines close up
Waves gently lapping on a beach
When birdsong is the only sound around
Village cricket matches
The pop of a cork and the 'glug glug glug' of the first glass of wine being poured from a bottle

Bad:
Screaming babies
Jet engines at a distance
Gardening power tools
Starlings
Those car exhausts that are made so they blow really loudly

Good
The Ocean
Lawn Sprinklers
Silence in the desert
My dog when he sighs with contentment
Bad
The sound of my upstairs neighbour's footfalls
Fireworks

Bad: The sound the washing machine makes when all of the clothes get lumped to one side and the momentum makes it crash into the sides. That noise just gets louder and louder and is really scary.

good: diesel engine

Probably the worst: Vomiting

Good:dolphins singing

Best:Laughter from my friends
Worst:Mopeds, it's made even worse when a chav is trying to look hard on one
Music played through a mobile phone. IT SOUNDS SHIT PEOPLE.
Actually make that all mobile phones.
Screaming babies for sure.
Crisp packets being rustled.

Yeah we know you don't like it now get over it.

bad- go carts- i listen to them all day
good- swish sound that basketball makes

good:

birds singing along to the cd's I play (they really enjoy my music usually)
mobile telephone interference with my TV or computer.

bad:
the humming sound that a television makes, even with the sound turned of.
cars and loud motorcycles
girls with high ugly voices

good: sounds of the forest
a cat meowing
wind passing through a cave

bad: a dog barking
the sound of a forest being destroyed
people not shutting up!
incessant whining
lawnmowers
