terrrorist attack at gay pride youth center in tel aviv
so if nobody has heard this yet yesterday there was a brutal massacre at a youth center for homosexuals in tel aviv. three people were killed and over a dozen inured when a masked man entered with a machine gun and shot up the place.
its really terrible and i am in utter shock. its really devastating that these things can happen. its weird since we are so used to political terrorist attacks that when it is a hate crime it seems so out of the blue. this also feels worse than a political terrorist attack, because i can always, even if i dont agree, ican see where the palestinian terrorist is coming from. but if you attack someone simply for trying to be themselves just seems like pure evil. anywise fuck humanity http://www.haaretz.com/hasen/spages/1104659.html just a random article about it, the haaretz site, and almost any other site has plenty of information about it. |
This makes me so sad. I'm a huge gay rights activist and this kind of shit makes me sick to my stomach.
|
:( that's awful
|
I heard about this the other day...
It's a bit strange. Most hate killings seem to be backwoods affairs. An open assault in a major city is disturbingly out of character... |
Fucking appalling.

!?!?!??! |
i meant that when it has become routine (or at least it was a few years ago) that attacks have a political agenda, but when it is purely a hate crime it shocks us a lot more. if it was an arab killing jews then i wouldnt have been as shocked.
and lamont cranston what is that comment supposed to mean? |
fucking terrible man.
people ain't safe nowhere. |

yeah i heard about it. truly awful.

This is pretty crappy all round. Shooting people for being gay/lesbian? Hopefully the guy (and it sure is going to be a guy, isn't it?) will be caught and dealt with ASAP.
|
I think Lamont Cranston was talking more about the Palestinian and Israeli relations. Pointing out the horrors that the Palestinians deal with at the hands of the Israelis are similar. Not that anyone deserves it, but it's all just fucking hell.
Stay safe Fugazifan. It has to be a bit harrowing to live in the middle east. |
Things aren't easy for the gay and Jewish.
|
^ Actually is not so hard. Tel Aviv is more liberal and open minded than most parts of the U.S.

Actually this murder resembled much more the horrors that innocent Israelis deal with at the hand of Palestinians. |
One thing that I've learned from civil rights movements is that the more legally tolerant a state is the more radical and violent the intolerant opposition becomes.

but what does that have to do with the gay kids? israel should get a taste of its own medicine? do these gay kids shoot up palestinian villages, or is this collective punishment. i would like to think that the civilains are seperate from the actions of their government.
thats like after 9/11 some israelis said that at least america will know what israel has to deal with. i am about as left wing as they get, and especially as of recent have been risking a lot to help palestinians, but what you said is one of the most ignorant and sickest things that i have heard in a while. and i hope that you were just trying to be a prick and dont actually think that.... |
I'm not sure it's said anywhere that there were even palestinians involved.
were they? I just read "hate crime". honestly, not that it really matters. in my book, nothing justifies violence. |
Rationalizing any violence in eye-for-an-eye terms is the worst rational of all.
Palestinians would probably be very willing to execute their own homosexual population, if only they would just come out of hiding. |

but how could you care about this incident if you say "fuck humanity"? If you carry this hate-filled, stark pessimistic view of life, then you have not only sunk to the level of the hatemongers, but you have let them win! Love covers a multitude of sins. Without love, you are nothing at all. Above all things, give love. love is a deep feeling of overwhelming forgiveness, compassion, empathy, for everyone and all. Expand your love and will change the world, and for a lack of love, much of the world has already sold itself, but the love of a small few is enough to keep the positiveness flowing above the negative. If it were not for love, we would have destroyed ourselves long ago.. |

so would I but Israel fucked up and makes ALL its citizens participate in its military. technically, there is no such thing as an israeli civilian. Israel sold out its citizens a long time ago and uses them for its agendas, the israeli govt is worse than the us, a corrupt bullshit warmongering institution that fails to reflect the views of the majority of its citizens and instead relies upon a blend of terror, propaganda based fear, religious ferverence, and above all absolutist police state control to pursue an elitist agenda at the expense of everyday israelis.. its damn shame really. they took a holy land and turned into the american dream (which any of us americans can assure you is a lie) |

The most positive post I have read on this site. When did the all religions start forgetting the lesson of LOVE!:) |
