who/what keeps u posting? why do u keep coming back for more? do u feel 'dependant' on this board?



i tend to get my fix while at work. sometimes i get on in the evening if im at home and not partaking in one of my many other addictions. what's ur excuse?

...I can quit whenever I want. I just don't want to, that's all...

I could definitely spend more of my life on this board, but I usually don't unless I'm drunk. 10 posts a day isn't a lot, is it?

Once I'm on a board, I feel the need to check out the new posts... EVERY MINUTE ! Well, since I'm new to the SYG, I'm not really addicted yet, but I think I will.

I used to be far more addicted than I am now, but a few posters keep me coming back for amusement and aesthetic assistance.

y'all are interesting and/or entertaining. much moreso than people on the few other message boards i've been on...

also syg has the highest concentration of people who say "yr" in the universe.

I agree. I admitted I had a problem a couple weeks back, and tried to stop posting and just lurked a little bit, in fact I didn't post anything for like two weeks straight.. but then my job cut my hours..

all my friends work or got wifey and kids and bullshit..
my sister who I live with has been hanging out with her friends a lot more lately..
basically I've been on a bit of a lonely tip and I think y'all in SYG land have been keeping me good company, and I also thank y'all for it :)

i do it because i am actually a sociology student doing a thesis on artificial intellgicence interacting with human intelligence.
so floatz and zom bot are basically gonna pay for my grad school.

Every once in 4 months someone, generally the same handful of posters, will post something interesting and insightful about ''stuff''. I'm certainly not as addicted to it as I used to be, or read as many threads as I used to. I don't know if it's even possible for this forum to be all that good. Last time I've checked the non-sonic sounds it was poorly stocked with new threads compared to the overwhelming majority of nothingness that fights for space on the non-sonics section. Maybe that's telling us something.

I tend to get drowned in the deep blue background and then something compells me to check what's up. Etc.

Also, the pic used in the first post of this thread scares me to the fucking max. Seriously. Kegmama used it as an avatar a while ago and it was already that scary for me. I can't explain it.

the internet. Nothing is really quite as entertaining as this board....not to mention other boards are filled with stupid people.....

Discovering new bands, lulzy conversations.

i admit i'm an addict, i can't stay away from this place for long, mainly i come here to check any new sonic youth news and i love hearing what people are listening to and descovering new stuff, plus there are many nice people to talk to.

I'm an OG from the first SY board. I have an obligation.

I lurked this board for a while before joining, actually I lurked the old board a few years back. I dunno, as far as a place where people can talk about music I like or could like, as well as entertaining me with like-minded comments and conversations, this place is the best I've seen online. I like the ease of it all, I can go from a discussion on Sun Ra to a debate between reebok classics and nike air force ones (black reebok classics ftw). In real life I would literally have to hang out with like seven or eight different people all simultaneously to get what i get in this board, and how yes I'd like to do that, its just not that simple.

This board is doing a poor job of filling the void caused by my leaving World of Warcraft.

It's because I like SY, first of all. After that, it's because it's pretty busy. Most messageboards are pretty dead. Or if they're not they're filled with people who know each other inside and out, and they're either loving themselves to death or wanting to kill each other.

I am here because sonic youth is the alpha and the omega. The all-master. Sonic Youth is everything that is and it pulls us disparate people from around the world into this sonic gravity well along with everyone's tastes and likes and dislikes and it fucking rules cuz otherwise I could tal;k to maybe 2 people who even have any idea about what music I am mentioning and then I like to laugh and you guys are funny.
