why does shadow of a doubt...
never seem to get old!?! I've been a fan for 2 years but over that time i've fallen in love with Shadow of a Doubt, and I'm still in love with it! It's the highest played song on my iTunes and every time I hear it, it just gets better and better... from the delicate guitar playing in the verses, to the pulsating disruption in the middle, to the droning chord that throws us back into the delicate song. It's just an amazing song really... just thought I'd express how I feel :D

Yeah, I really love it too. The lyrics are also very nice.
|
agreed, kims whispering lyrics help give the song a haunting atmosphere... great concept too
|
Of course, it's a great song

First, I'm pissed they played this the second night at DC and not the first. I guess it's my fault though, should have gone both nights. This is the song that I introduce anyone to Sonic Youth if they ask. How could you not want to hear more after hearing it? Shadow of a Doubt doesn't get old because it's brilliant.

it RULES
been in love with it since i saw the vid on 120 minutes back in the day |
YEah, it's an awesome song. Creepy, sexy, mysterious, really great explosion in the middle. You're right that it's a really good introduction to SY.

practically perfect in every way

Shadow of a Doubt continues to send chills down my spine.
|
great art stays timeless.

aye, this song is like a sublime nightmare

Possibly my all time favorite Kim song. It's so haunting but really seductive in a weird way. Her whispery, vocals early on in the song give me chills like every time I hear it. Yeah, fabulous song.

kim's best for sure. |
why does the entirety of evol...
never seem to get old? |

the only song off evol that doesn't blow me away every time is marliyn moore....but even that track is pretty rad. |

At first I didn't like it, but now I think that track might be my favorite off the whole album. That chord they play throughout is so sick. |

yeah..i mean, don't get me wrong. it's still a pretty bad ass song. i would rate it an 8/10 whereas all the others are perfect. i even like bubblegum! |
Indeed its a great song that they still play regularly but the middle loud section to me sounds abit off on live versions they've done as of the last several years... i think its thurston's guitar part where it sounds like he is playing an octave or at least one whole step below the actual recorded version... you can also hear the difference between recent live versions and live versions back in 1986... btw, live versions of marylin moore back in '86 are awesome and blow away the studio recorded one.
the EVOL-era is what honestly sold me on sonic youth back in the day, probably the 3rd or 4th album i heard by them when i was just beginning to be really interested in what they were musically speaking. |
