I don't know if you people like Pitchfork, I personally hate this website (the ratings are completely random, based on only one member of the staff, their reviews are pretentious, 0.0 for NYC Ghosts & Flowers, and more reasons to hate them...) and I only go there for the news but I always thought their lists were kinda interesting, except this one: The top 500 tracks of the decade, I was like "wtf?" at many times.

Still, "Umbrella" might not be that bad, but I wouldn't put it over any Panda Bear song and I don't think it's one of the best songs of the decade. One of the most popular ok, but not one of the best, and it's clearly a top here.

But I just took this song as an example, there are certainly worse songs on the list, eh.

The age thing was just a hunch.

At any rate, they're picking 500 tracks (mainly singles) from a 10 year span. What are they basing them on? In another 10 years, some of us (you, me, etc) will remember "Bros." certainly. But a lot of other people (you, me, etc etc etc!) will remember "Umbrella." Ranking them one over the other is pointless really. Is "Umbrella" better than "Bros"? Really it doesn't matter. I think they're both excellent songs.

Personally, my pick for #1 would have been "Good Girl/Carrots" by Panda Bear, it's just my favorite song of the decade, so great.

I'm not saying there aren't exceptions, but it's just so great to see a really original and forward-thinking artist on top of all that electroclash, r&b and half-arsed hip-hop that dominated the rest of the list.

co-sign. I read it everyday. I have for like 8 years or something. Whatever. I don't agree with everything they say. But I've certainly disovered some good stuff thru either a good OR BAD review and their news section is usually very ahead of others. So whatever.

I didnt read the list. I doubt I will even bother. But let's see. "Miss Jackson"? Is that on there? That's a great song from the last decade. "Hey Ya"? I mean overplayed, but certainly a hell of a song. And of course I think they're forward thinkers.

Pitchfork does indeed suck.

I agree to give leaves a chance if you agree to give quas a chance. It really helps if you forget that his voice is just madlibs sped up, think of lord quas as a badass, weed smokin cartoon character.

I think the beats are good. But the persona is a bit too silly for me. The instrumental version of UNSEEN was way better than the LP.

But like I said, YNQ is by far my favorite Lib output.
