The Dead Weather..

is a fucking great new band. I love it, it is the best of jack white and and the chick from the kills without having to sound like a joy division rip off ;)

The Dead Weather is an American alternative rock supergroup formed in Nashville, Tennessee in 2009. Comprised of Alison Mosshart (of The Kills and Discount), Jack White (of The White Stripes and The Raconteurs), Dean Fertita (of Queens of the Stone Age) and Jack Lawrence (of The Raconteurs and The Greenhornes)[1], The Dead Weather debuted at the opening of Third Man Records' Nashville headquarters on March 11, 2009. The band performed live for the first time at the event, immediately before releasing their debut single "Hang You from the Heavens".

[edit] Music career

In January 2009, Mosshart, Fertita, Lawrence, and White got together for an impromptu jam at White's Third Man studio. The session was followed by two-and-a-half weeks of song writing and recording, during which the Dead Weather formed.[2] Said White: "Things just started to happen. We didn't have a direction. We just went a song a day, two songs a day, whatever we could do and recorded them on the fly... There was no time to think about what it was. It just was."[3]

[edit] Horehound

Main article: Horehound (album)
Horehound is The Dead Weather's debut album. It was released on July 14th 2009 in North America, and July 13th in the UK and mainland Europe. It entered the U.S. Billboard 200 Album Charts at #6 and the UK Album Charts at #14. Three tracks from Horehound ("No Hassle Night", "Hang You From the Heavens", and "Treat Me Like Your Mother") were made available as downloadable content for the Rock Band video game series on the same day as the North American release.

I like the Raconteurs better than white stripes stuff.. I like this dead weather much better than the kills.. it is like if the kills got into a GOOD band with real drums..

loubarret 08.27.2009 02:30 PM

Alright.

You don't need to yell, that hurts me.

fucking kick ass show. Jimmy kimmel you fucking suck you bastard, but you throw damn good free shows! but you fucking suck!

they made us stand there and watch the show on screens, but we just fucked around and heckled until the band came on. nobody was interested in standing next to Jimmy when he introduced the band, everybody was at the stage. it was a much smaller crowd than sonic youth, and they played 25 minutes (sonic played a full hour) but it was a kick ass fucking gig none-the-less! High energy, heavy, thrashing, alison is a fucking gutter punk Janis with here stage show.. hot damn I had a good time, first show to blow me away like that in a long time, I haunt reggae shows.

Forever My Queen
So Far From Your Weapon

the sound is usually better there, these Youtube clips sounded MUCH clearer then at the gig itself, the vocals and guitar were too low.. bad soundguy..

dionysusundone 08.29.2009 04:00 PM

I was hoping this would be the band that would finally sell me on Jack and Allison both...I like the way they look and they've both always been on the border for music I like but never quite making it there...sadly it's the same here.

I did get a hug from Allison when I saw the Kills with The Horrors a few months ago though.

automatic bzooty 08.30.2009 10:48 AM

horehound is le shit; the dead weather are the best thing jack white's done in a long, long time. (along with his whole third man records thing.)

... and alison mosshart just fucking rules. end of.

finding nobody 08.30.2009 11:55 AM

Been a white stripes fan sense about age 13. The first raconteurs cd is worth hearing.
Just heard about Dead Weather recently.. downloading their cd and some older kills

Decayed Rhapsody 08.30.2009 04:55 PM

Alison Mosshart is fucking insufferable. I remember someone saying something about The Kills being like Royal Trux with all the interesting bits taken out and I'd have to agree.
