I think there's something wrong when this kind of stuff gets to the national news (not only bbc, but here too). But it was nice to come home yesterday drunk and see this reported. Already quite pleasant evening turned a bit better.

i was always surprised to that they stayed around as long as they did, they seem like such a relic of the 90s, plus i haven't heard a new oasis song in about 10 years.

who knows, way more people listened to oasis and they were a much bigger deal back then than sonic youth ever were.

You'll quite often find that a lot of people have no idea that the Fall or Sonic Youth didn't split up around 87 or 91 respectively.
