What worries you?

I used to worry about nuclear war. This was in the 80s when, actually, I was helping Ronnie fight the Ruskies in Germany.

Since then, my worries have become more mundane. I worry about becoming fat. I worry about never seeing my wife again. I worry about becoming jobless and homeless.

You?

floatingslowly 09.08.2009 06:10 PM

everybody worried about nuclear war in the 80's. at least, the sane ones.

these days, I split my time between the general decline of civilization and of course, the old stand-by, a giant space rock, floating slowly toward our doom.

gmku 09.08.2009 06:13 PM

I had nightmares frequently about nuclear war in the 1980s. Then I'd have to get up, put on my battle fatigues, and go to work on an air force base in West Germany. I was freaked out most of the time. Though of course my military bearing did not reveal it.

I remember coming home some nights so scared because of the top secret shit I knew. And I yet couldn't talk about any of it. Thus, the nightmares.

You guys don't know how many times the balloon almost went up over there.

floatingslowly 09.08.2009 06:19 PM

awesome. I'm sure it's A LOT BETTER now TOOOOO.

fuck you people, I'm stealing a rocket. the fucking economy has put a damper on space-port oklahoma, so I might have to switch to Plan B.

Word. The world's gotten much scarier, granted--or at least is AS scary.

As I've said before--God, I miss the Cold War.

floatingslowly 09.08.2009 06:26 PM

the word gotten scares me too.

I know it's ok for use in the US, but I always worry that some english cunt is going to chuckle over it.

fucking english cunts.

gmku 09.08.2009 06:29 PM

Fuck those English cunts, anyway. That's what I say.

Zombie Robot 09.08.2009 06:30 PM

since when did nuclear war suddenly fall off the list of options? there are still quite a few thousand armed warheads today..

but what man by worrying can add cubit to his height?

I don't doubt that it will still happen. the difference is, we've moved the danger from mutual destruction to a single or small exchange (meaning pakistan vs india).

if a bomb takes out new york, I'll still have time to buy a dog, a car and a shotgun before taking my show on the road.

demonrail666 09.08.2009 06:40 PM

shit, I have to watch Mad Max II now

Shifty Prophet 09.08.2009 06:42 PM

I tend not to worry. Nuclear war? yeah its a motherfucker, don't you know, when they push that button your ass is gonna go.

demonrail666 09.08.2009 06:46 PM

it wasn't the nuclear war, it was the prospect of the dog, the car and the shotgun

atsonicpark 09.08.2009 06:49 PM

Begotten does worry me a bit honestly.

I'm mostly worried that I finally won't be able to stop myself from killing.. uh.. myself.

who said that? The US and Soviets ( I say this because all the leaders of Russia are former USSR, thats hardly a regime change) and China all have a massive arsenal.. I think the option is as relevant today as it ever was, the difference is its not a political buzz word these days or a common fear tactic of the govt. if anything, that fact that it has fallen under the radar makes it an even more pertinent threat if you ask me.. until there are no longer any nuclear weapons period, there will be a threat of nuclear annihilation..

davenotdead 09.08.2009 09:08 PM

who said anything about under the radar? I know damn well what the US, Soviets (lol soviets) and Chinese have.

I also know that there's a greater chance of a Soviet (lol soviet) warhead falling into the wrong hands and being used, which makes it a "greater worry" for MEEEE. <--- that is what this thread is about...not "are nuclear bombs still bad?"

but please, feel free to worry all you like, about whatever you want to worry about. :)

ps: I don't really worry too much about someone using a stolen bomb either. I don't really worry too much about anything at all. biting yr nails is a good way to get the flu.

No, your advice is dead on. Just don't let it. It really is that simple. It's a conscious decision you need to make. And it's made best when you let yourself take the widest perspective you can of your life and the world.
