Most stupidly nauseating quotes...
Mine: "I see dead people".
|
"Run Forest, run!"
|
"that's what she said"

I agree. I highly prefer "I'm sorry I ruined your New Year's Eve party, Lieutenant Dan. She tasted like cigarettes." |

"Why is there so much frustration when one cannot comprehend a work of art? I'm not saying that the inability to understand is a reflection of one's level of intelligence. i'm simply asking the big EMOTIONALLY question. why do people get so frustrated over something they have problem comprehending? Have you ever dream a dream that you do not understand? Have you ever dream of signs, symbols, incidents, characters, animals, locations that doesn't make sense at all? how do you come to terms with those unfulfilling surrealist images?"

I hate Forrest Gump. One of the worst movies I've ever seen. The entire film is about how conforming to what America wants of you will make you successful (even if you're retarded). Go fight a war, go become a ping pong champion, etc. Meanwhile, the only free-thinking person in the whole film gets AIDS and dies. I didn't really understand the point of the film. It wasn't dramatic, it wasn't funny, it didn't "touch" me, it sorta entertained me but its message and story and characters were all so boneheaded (huh huh LITERALLY huh huh) that it almost seemed like a bad SNL sketch or something. And then it wons awards!
I'm shocked that such a stupid movie is so well-liked. Oh well, at least no one likes Patch Adams.... ........RIGHT? |
Forrest Gump made me cry.
It's one of those things, like Friends, for me. I'm a total sucker for saccharine shit. It doesn't matter that the whole of my critical self is going "but you do know Ocean's Eleven is shit?", I still get giddy at things like Bambi. Actually, Bambi's a terrible example because it's clearly the best film ever made. |
That's not a bad thing. If you can enjoy a shit movie, you're getting more out of life.
|
I like Forest Gump, just get annoyed at that oft repeated quote.
|
I can enjoy shitty movies all day, but there was just nothing to Forrest Gump. I guess the only thing I enjoyed was the bizarre mashing up of Forrest with presidents and other old stock footage, found that quite cool and weird considering it was made in 1994.
You know what's weird? What was the name of John Candy's last movie? Not Canadian Bacon.. it was called Out West or something like that? I can't remember. But it came out the same year as Forrest Gump and it has a Forrest Gump reference in it -- even though, in reality, John Candy died before Forrest Gump was ever released. Always found that a little bizarre (yeah, I know Forrest Gump is based on a book but still). The best thing about Forrest Gump is the Forrest Gump 2 parody in Cecil B. Demented. That shit was hilarious. Oh, and Gump Fiction back when madtv actually aired okay stuff: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dymb0SvHCnY |

I fully agree, Forrest Gump is tendentious drivel. I haven't seen Patch Adams, as Robin Williams is in it. |
Never heard the word tendentious before, thanks for that.
|
I like Forrest Gump but I would have to go on some long philosophical defense to make my point and I'm not bothered enough to spell it out. But to summarize, I would interpret the film as a case for Jean-Jacques Rousseau's natural morality as well as a depiction of the absurdity of circumstance.
* edited because I left out some words. |
You absolute prick.
|
Doubly prickish because you not only referenced Rousseau but you went to the trouble of both writing and hyphenating his first name.
Derrida talks a lot about Rosseau. Have you read of Grammatology? Ridiculous in its perfection, I tell you. |
And you're a meta-prick for complaining.
((using "meta" in a neologism is admittedly very prick)) |
Anything quoted from the bible is usually pretty bad.
I hate hate hate when people quote Family Guy. I just fucking hate Family Guy more than any other show in TV. I'd rather watch The Tyra Show all day, every day. At least you can laugh at Tyra for being an oblivious idiot. Family Guy's whole "stupid for the purpose of being funny" isn't humorous at all. I secretly resent people who watch it |
Yeah, but it's not even as bad as American Dad.
Seth McFarlane, just as a human being, seems a lot funnier and more ridiculous than any of his shows. |
I've seen maybe half an episode of American Dad? I dunno.
I've also never seen any video or anything of Seth MacFarlane. For some reason I doubt he's funny though. |
I generally like Patch Adams. Yes, I said it.
|
i agree with emmah
anything from family guy |

.... yeah, what he said. |
Quoting Nietzsche or Sartre for the sake of quoting them.

Yeah, but only an insufferably twat would drop such a truism unnecessarily, same with the rest of their quotes.

I hate when people quote movies/tv shows/etc. in general. The delivery is always half-assed, and hardly worthy of cracking a smile. Fake laughs are for chumps.

Anyone other than John Cleese, Michael Palin, Eric Idle, Graham Chapman, Terry Jones, or Terry Gilliam quoting Monty Python.
Irritating as fuck. |
