Thread For Those Who Like The "SYR" Stuff More Than The "Other" Stuff.
Goodbye 20th Century.
Greatest Album Evar. |
I love 8.

Yeah....me too. LOL! Seriously, I listen that stuff more than the "normal" albums. Anyone else? |
When I got 8...it was on like all the time. I still listen to their albums a lot more though.
|
3 and 6 are big faves too. I adore Sonic Youth for doing this "on the side" so to speak.
Or...wait.....maybe the "normal" stuff is "on the side".....LOL. |
i love 3 and 8 because they are like nothing i've heard in my little south london life before
When i first got 1 and 2 i was a bit supprised, but then after a few listens i really appreciated them, but they sounded quite 'normal'. I'm still amazed by 3 and scared shitless of 8. 6 is ok, and i haven't got 7 (no turntables for me). Never got my head round 5 and i haven't listened to 4 enough for some reason. No idea why. thats my homework for this week. SYR4. |
i love em all...i'm more into experimental ideas than the rock thing (nowdays )
but in each one you'll found the good and the bad of sonic improvisation ( for yr tastes of course ) today i'm in the mood for: Goodbye 20th Century |
you will love 9.

I love SYR1 simply because of Tremens... it's so relaxing
|
there was a thread a while back where evryone seemed to want new stuff, rather than old recordings. Is it new material?
please say its accoustic |

I was at this show with my girlfriend. It was fucking great. :) |
Moshe.....is he, like, Thurston?
|
Quote:
hahaha. |
Moshe is Patrick Ewing at the supermarket of Sonic Youth
|
Slaapkamers was the best, the rest means nothing to me
|
titey

SYR 2 could be "a thousand leaves deluxe edition disc 2" because "slaapkamers met slagroom" is an instrumental version of "the ineffable me" and "stil" sounds to be an instrumental version of "snare girl". so it's equal between albums and syrs
|
syr1 is my favorite. tremens is groooovy.
|

indeed. in fact the band premiered alot of a thousand leaves tracks live as instrumentals before atl was released. |
instrumental stuff rocks harder than song stuff. it is more serious. i mean i like massage the history as much as the next alterna-rocker but, vampires? come on! give me instrumental over that stuff any day!

i have repositioned myself. now i am thinking the lyrics are worth pondering (once again!) i am going to listen to A Thousand Leaves to see the progression in my minds, since I just listened to Confusion is Sex. But all this SOnic Youth research is so self-serving. What about electoral politics, war, holidays?
Think globally (hard to do when we're at war) act locally. But to speak to the thread: what about the disc put out with Lee, Thurston, Montera and Mazzacane Connors, MMMR? Pretty sweet... |

Bemp. LOL. Actually, I keep hoping that Sonic Youth will do an 80min CD = 40min of "songs with choruses" and a 40min "difficult piece" at the end. Or something like that. ie Make an album that is half and half. Don't even list the 40min bit on the cover. A hidden gem. Hahaha. The best of both worlds. |
tremens is one of their best tracks ever.
