Rob Instigator pt. II
I was thinking further, and with yr taste in hip hop (say PE and some of the more agressive stuff coming out of Texas, etc) I really think you'd love El-P's album FANTASTIC DAMAGE. You may already have it. I don't know. But if not, I think you'd get it. The production is just so dense (he produced Cannibal Ox's COLD VEIN as well). And it (for lack of a better word) rawks.
|
I'll sleep when you're dead is even better imo. Better flowz in da rhymez.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2dBqGINeDvg another un http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SXR-1clhulQ from 1:38 on = mindblowing production |
no way, I'LL SLEEP is nowhere near as good as FANTASTIC!
|
OHHHHH payday is Friday and I got an itch to get me some new tunes and hell yeah. t6hanks for the heads-up
|
word. And no offense to my man, nicfit -- but I think YOU would prefer FANTASTIC DAMAGE.... and if you don't have Cannibal Ox's COLD VEIN think about checking that out as well.

And as awesome as FANTASTIC is, it still gets crushed by FUNCRUSHER PLUS! All are awesome though. |
y'know, I've had FUNCRUSHER since it first came out (on cassette, son!) and yet I've never been into it as much as FANTASTIC or COLD VEIN. I'm not really sure why... maybe it's Len and Juss that I never felt as much as El-P. I mean, CoFlow's LITTLE JOHNNY FROM THE HOSPITAL is pretty boring to me...
|
Cannibal Ox's Cold Vein for the motherfuckin' win yo.
"You sucked my pussy when you came out, never talk back" |
you were a stillborn baby
mama did'nt want you but you were still born |

But The Fire In Which You Burn! THE FIRE IN WHICH YOU BURN!!!! |
enjoyed that El P Flyentology will check out more when i get back on. Got to blast for a while.....
|
Fantastic Damage destroys I'll Sleep When You're Dead. I dig both, but
FD is in my top 25 records of all time, all genres. |
Stepfather Factory is among my favourite singles from the last decade.

co-sign. That track is perfected. The beat is so insane. It's intense, and somehow it's aggressively macho and completely vulnerable at the same time. Incredible. |
I prefer Funcrusher Plus and The Cold Vein to Fantastic Damage, the only song on that record I relly loved was Deep Space 9mm, infact out of the three former Co Flo guys I like El-P's stuff least, Mr Len's first solo record had some really great tracks but doesn't seem to ever get mentioned.
|
DEF JUX! Music for aggressive white people.
I do give cred to Cannibal Ox though, he has some great production |
I like Def Jux. I'm not aggressive at all.

This. There were some awesome tunes on Fantastic Damage, but it's no Funcrusher. Having said that, I generally know fuck all about hip-hop. |
God, sorry to keep going on about (I do a LOT), but this thread set me off on Fire In Which You Burn again, and damn if EL-Ps verse on that isn't one of the best in rap historY:
Check check check check check check I the Don Digital, slash, piranha morph Alongside poor terrible surgeons, who blur comic perspectives and wonder how to get bent, that flaming Malatov shit Unstoppable object hits unmovable wall and space split This rogue cherub got his own twisted agenda, catch that Walkin on flatlines, you witness me grow WAY beyond corporate control Let them eat cake, cause I introduce myself as a mistake Slipped through the quills with a serrated barb stabbed, sharp in the gut Now we can all become Lord of the Flies when this industry sees it's demise Hold it up and try to destruct you get zapped with dead eyes The five factions giganti the fuck up and get touched The group hugs you received from your support group can't protect you from the bumrush I'm known to slip arsenic mickies in Talk Soup then reform With an unprecedented fierceness, display these powers of Storm I wasn't born in a manger but I still received three gifts Alphabetically listed they're Big Juss, Mr. Len, and I See the field creatures scurry, I the killer, caution Try to merk off of the pile but you choked on my motherfuckin portion Spade within my excrement bitch parody Your insanity is my clarity, not to mention convention is a great war weapon, disguised under the guise of institutionalism but still prison, the bad batch of jism Who stands, who falls, this is the one the DJ calls lick the ass crack On the wack I keep tabs like Timothy Leary and/or ASCAP The iron lung is non rustable, you're overrated As in smoking dust or sonic contracts that haven't been thoroughly debated Got my name up in your mouth like cock or gingivitis when every rhyme becomes the official new blueprint for wannabe writers Catch a smack to the face on principle Even when I say nothing it's a beautiful use of negative space Indelibles is invincible, El-P don't forget the fuckin name Come on Columbo I know you figured this shit out, nobody sounds the same Unfuckingtouchable! |
All the MCs go nuts on that song. Funny thing, the beat that appears on
the album was not the original beat they all rhymed to. El-P changed it at the last minute. I still like J-Treds the best on it: "Cause on the mic I’ve got more presence/Than attendance in a class of schizophrenics/hear hear" |
My favorite CoFlow song is "Vital Nerve."
