Yeah this album is amazing. Every song is just intensely great I think. I will NEVER fully love Doolittle though... am I the only one that HATES over half the tracks on that record?

Nice interview. I love that bit about not being into million miles per hour notes and making the guitar playing sound alot dumber. That echoes my own feelings alot.


I don't think I hate any of the tracks on Doolittle, but it definitely slows down alot in the middle. Certainly not non stop genius like Surfer Rosa. I don't get why alot of people seem to prefer Doolittle.

There's not a bad song on any of their albums, except for Bossanova ("Stormy Weather").

Doolittle, Surfer Rosa, and especially Trompe Le Monde are masterpieces.

I love doolittle, but bossanova has my least fave tune, Veloria

wikipedo says that as of 2005 Doolitle was still selling between 500 and 1000 copies a week.

I love Doolittle, but not as much as Surfer Rosa. I like them in the order they got released actually, Surfer Rosa > Doolittle > Bossanova >Trompe Le Monde.

Trompe Le Monde is by far their best. It's almost ridiculous how essential that record is compared to the rest of their output.

Yeah I like Surfer Rosa better but Trompe Le Monde is technically their best by a long shot.

VELOURIA is such a beautiful song, especially the slow tripped out version. Anyway, Surfa Rosa is my favorite for sure...it's their prime I believe...

yeah I honestly think doolittle might be their worst. It's nice to hear there are other people who don't constantly put it on a pedestal. and trompe le monde is easily their best.

Really? Dissing Doolittle and calling it their worst?

How can anybody listen to it and not say it's their most consistent song by song? Surfer Rosa has a few "eh" songs (Tony's Theme, Oh My Golly), Bossanova is a just a drop in quality, and Trompe, while awesome, kinda loses steam by the end.

Compare Doolittle: Debaser, Tame, Wave of Mutilation, I Bleed, Here Comes Your Man. Some of the finest Pixies songs and it's only the first five songs. The only bad song on the record is Silver I think.

But to each their own....
