the official new fall album thread
the album that is provisionally titled - Our Future, Your Clutter - altho this title is rumoured to be a red herring as usual. apparently its coming out in april.
lets get all the info about it posted in this thread, and see if we cant get some live mp3s of the new songs up aswell. what does everyone expect from it? i remember mes put out on of his annual missives in 09 and it sounded particularily angry, there was a line like - "put your enemies in front of children's tv". imperial wax solvent was surprisingly great, so i have hope for it, i thought the slipply floor single was OK, but kind of going down an uninteresting side of their more rockist edge. cowboy george is really excellent so hopefully there will be more stuff like that. i'm predicting it will be heavy and quite aggressive, about as much as iws, but there might be some weird spaciness to it aswell, considering the keyboard breakdown in the live version of cowboy george. |
so these 2 people - ie. the wire and robin turner have heard it
http://twitter.com/thewiremagazine #nowplaying The Fall. Your Future Our Clutter, new album on Domino, sounding pretty caustic so far (and fairly cerebral, too) http://twitter.com/robinturner
do we just chant- leak...leak...leak...leak... like the start of lay of the land. you know what to do if you get your hands on it |
actually now that i look closer:
Quote:
so apparently it's already leaked somewhere? anyone have any idea were? if anyone is registered and can post on that board (i registered but don't have permission to post yet) you should go pm somewhere there and ask for the link then pm me |
i heard the single slippy floor and both songs on that were great
|
im sure its being passed around a select few on the fall board by now, who will gradually making bragging comments - what we need is someone who is already registered here to pm them and try and get in on it. i registered but you dont get to post for a certain amount of time to stop bots i guess.
anyone here post on the fall board? i really want to hear it, one of the early versions of cowboy george had lyrics about walking the streets of belfast, which is what i was doing when i first listened to it, which was cool. |
Hip Priest is on there, amongst others.
But, to be honest, it really won't kill you to wait. |
yeah but the point is i want it now
|
dammit his pm box is full
|
my guess is that it will sound like a tired old man mumbling while some unremarkable musicians play unremarkable rock n roll
|
yeah we all know that but still.
cowboy george was good. there is some promise. iws had some great moments. |

arg. leak. |
It'll probably be shit.
IWS was great for 2 or 3 listens then i got bored with it. That said, I think I'll probably like it, the stupid fanboy I am. Real new Fall lp was great, they (he) should try something in that vein again. |
Hey This Is Apparently On Soulseek. If You Have Soulseek That Works (mine Is Behind The Wrong Port) Please Look For It And Send It To Me
|
yea I found a dude on slsk who has it but oinly the first few songs.. lame.
will probably be EVERYWHERE by the end of the day. |
FINALLY! Thanks so much man, you have no idea how long i've been looking for it. Sent about 15 PMs to various people on the fall board, spent last night trying to get people on slsk to d/l it for me since im behind the wrong port... but now... finally!

pauly to the rescue as usual!
|
One day Mark E. Smith is walking down a street (in Salford, I think) and he sees a little girl crying. He asks her what’s wrong and she says she’s lost her teddy bear. So he says, ‘Don’t worry. He’s gone touring with a rock band.’ The little girl calms down and every now and again Mark would send a postcard from Mark E. Bear from a variety of destinations. He kept this up until she was 28.
|
Yes yes yes, downloading it now! Hope it's great. I've really looked forward to it.
|
Okay. So I've listened to it once, and play it for the second time right now. I love it, totally love it. It's the best album they've done in quite some time, easily.
|
Great fucking album. This band never ceases to amaze me. I think it's actually, from front to back, their most listenable record since REAL NEW FALL.
I love "Cowboy George"... anyone else think that song, and "Chino", kinda sound like Jesus Lizard songs? The twisted, bent guitar lines.. the odd rhythm section (mainly speaking about "Chino"), and obviously Mark's no-time-at-all vocal delivery is similiar to Yow's anyway. Kinda weird. |
Dig "Funnel of Love" especially. Definitely amongst my new cruisin' tunes.
|
I dunno who is playing guitar on this one, but I am really digging some of the more surfy and Western-influenced guitar lines on the thing.
|
I really like it - though i haven't had a huge desire to go back to it after a few llistens. it's difficult to explain.
