Heh..

I SAW TOLERANCE OUT OF COMMUNE OUT OF TERMINAL, CAUGHT IN THE CLAP TRAP INERT FLAT PACK, HOLDS THE NATION TO ABREAST, THE FRONT RANK IT TURNS AND SAID, "ONE TO FIVE CRACKS UP!" BUT WHO WAS IT THAT SAID THAT? SINK VENICE, SINK SIN VENICE, SINK VENICE, SINK SINK VENICE. LOOK AROUND, LOOK LOOK LOOK AROUND.... 2000 DAMP BRICKS WON'T SAVE YOU NOW.

the ikara cult 02.24.2010 07:41 PM

I have no idea why you would know the lyrics to that song, ive never looked them up.

But i think its "So i ate a BLOCK of chocolate, and i couldnt sleep"

atsonicpark 02.24.2010 07:41 PM

Vain little preacher from round my way but I'm with stupid for the rest of my days, so that sordid little preacher goes a long long way, those ghosts that you're killing confront my days, for the rest of my days till you say so. So what?

atsonicpark 02.24.2010 07:42 PM

I listened to the first two Ikara Colt records and all the b-sides probably 1000 times. Used to be addicted to them. Only other bands I've ever been that addicted to were Beefheart, Wire's first 2 albums, and Hot Snakes.

Alka Seltzer is a popular headache remedy

tons of live shit and b-sides

Dr. Eugene Felikson 02.24.2010 07:49 PM

Happy belated birthday man!

at least ya got tits in yr thread.

atsonicpark 02.24.2010 07:51 PM

My favorite thing about Ikara Colt is how like 3/4ths of their songs start exactly the same: with that one snare drum hit. So brilliant!

That drummer is one of the busiest drummers I've ever heard... he rules

thanks. I know the guy who runs that. I set up the facebook Ikara Colt Group about 4 years ago and he runs it now. Bless him. I wrote some sarcastic summation of the bands history on the facebook page, dunno if its still there

atsonicpark 02.24.2010 07:58 PM

Only thing that disappointed was the first time I heard Repetition -- I thought for sure it was going to be a cover of the Fall song. since it seemed pretty obvious that one of their biggest influences. Oh don't get me wrong, their song called that is awsome too, but I kinda wanted a cover!

They always knew how to add in just the right notes.. I can't explain it... the most perfect guitar playing I can think of. Just a brilliant band. I'm totally rocking them as we speak.

For those who don't know what we're talking about ,download this whole fucking folder:

They werent the most perfect guitar playing you can think of. or that i can think of, they remind me of where and when i grew up, which is why im still into them.

I only heard of The Fall after being a fan of Ikara Colt, and i think theres alot of difference in their sound, even if The Fall are consistently better

atsonicpark 02.24.2010 08:08 PM

I think it's perfect, in its imperfection. What a killer tone too.

To me, it seems very much like early-Fall "Stepping Out"/"Bingo Master's Breakout"-type stuff, updated for the 00's. That was my impression right after Chat and Business came out and it's still what I think... but they had a sound all their own too.

It's a shame, no modern addictive little rock bands in my ear canal anymore.

I had the pleasure of seeing them 4 or 5 times, including the time at Reading Festival when there was a persistant stage invasion, and they were banned from playing the Leeds leg the next day.
I walked back to my tent talking to people whod queued to see the Foo Fighters... that was a litmus moment for me i think.

Dead-Air 02.24.2010 08:46 PM
