Thom Yorke
Anyone getting "The Eraser" on July 11th? I'm pretty excited for it since I am a huge Radiohead fan. It is supposed to sound like the Kid A/Amnesiac era. Exciting!
|
Should marry Michael Stipe.
|
Yeah it's sounds good, I'm quite the Radiohead-fan myself too.

That's a good thing, indeed. |
Kid A is incredibly underrated. I'm not a huge Radiohead fan, did go through a period of listening to them quite a bit. Just listened to Kid A recently, it's fantastic, I reckon possibly their best.
|
Amon their fans it's not under-rated. Most of them say it's the best radiohead album.
|
I don't think Kid A is all that underrated personally. Most people I talk to love it. I'd consider it their second best record, right after Ok Computer. I'd like to check out this new Thom Yorke album though.
|
Though I love Radiohead, I want to hear it before I rush out and buy it...I'm very hesitant about it.

kid a is overrated. I love the album but so many critics saw it breaking boundaries and very experimental when its not. Theres really not much new in there but I still love it just because its good music. The new album is great, it sounds alot similar to corgan's album. |

And thats good how? |

I havent heard corgan's solo album. I've never been into smashing pumpkins, but the only reason i'd think of picking up the corgan release is because of his song with Robert Smith in it. I probably wont though. |

i love corgan's album. Close your issue of Spin magazine and go download/ buy it... |
I heard that Yorke shit already.
it's not good, believe me. and I consider myself a big Radiohead fan |
radiohead is okay, i like creep.

Thom Yorke cd is good.
Nothing like Corgan. Kid A is the best Radiohead. fin |
Hayden wins (imagine it with a mortal-kombat-announcer-style voice).
anyway,if you like(love, adore) thom's voice you'll like the album. if you like (love, adore)greenwood's guitar work, you'd better leave it in the stores, virtual or not. if you like(love, adore)both those aspects of radiohead, maybe give it a try... |
if you like whine-ass music, go for it

I thought this too, but its really thom who writes the most creative of their works. Kid A was mostly written by him. Johnny does all the string arrangements however... the new album is great though, its not as conventional as most radiohead albums.... and the first minute of the album reminds me so much of corgan's album |
not good
|
"The Eraser" and "Harrowdown Hill" are top-notch.
|
it is very good
|
|
hmmm, i don't know why i didn't post anything here.
i love it, i feel it's too short, though. |
i wish radiohead would motivate themselves and put out the album they've been fine-tuning for years.
|
I'm rather glad they are taking thier time with it, builds up anticipation for it, thier last three albums came out back to back to back pratically, I hope and expect them to come back stronger and better then ever, so its better that they don't rush it and make just the kind of album they want.
|
I'm really looking forward to it, should be brilliant. Is it definitely coming out this year?
|
i'd never seen this thread before.
kid a was not overrated in the least. it's not underrated either. it's just as good as everyone says it is! and YES it is a fucking breakthrough in music -- a band known for slacker rock (creep), mope rock (fake plastic trees), and .. epic rock (paranoid android) .. no matter what, they're known for ROCKIN' .. but go and make a fucking ELECTRONIC album with almost no guitar?! and very fucked-up sounds and structures throughout the whole icecold landscape? and cutting edge (for mainstream music at least) production? yeah, how is it overrated exactly? and besides all that, kid a could have been a fucking MESS... if you ever really listen to the album, there are ten VERY different songs on that thing.. though there seems to be electronic manipulations on every track (except the last one), that's the only thing that really ties the thing together. thom even sounds different on most tracks. but every track suceeds as emotional, compelling, and innovative. a true landmark. radiohead will never sound better, though hail to the thief tried (too bad about that "punch up at a wedding" song though, eh?). as for thom yorke's solo album, it was kinda boring but had its moments. i'm thankful it came out, but damn.. it was no radiohead. |
'the eraser' was pretty fucking bad. i'd say it was one of the worst most anticipated albums of last year. the stuff from the forthcoming radiohead album sounds pretty good, though...and i don't even like anything they've done (except 'amnesiac').
anyone ever heard the SY tribute song radiohead did? worse than 'the eraser.' |

Kid A is a great album, but it's very over rated. It's an inferior copy of an Aphex Twin album. |
Quote:
really? what song was that? that might've been interesting. |
Quote:
I completely disagree, The Eraser is great. Quote:
Are you talking about Permanent daylight ? |
Quote:
I agree that Kid A is overrated, in my opinion half the tracks are awesome and the other half is flawed. They should have picked the best tracks from Kid A and from Amnesiac and make one album. If Kid A is overrated so is Aphex Twin. |
Quote:
Haha, well then, if it's Permanent Dayllight, then we're talking my ever favourite song from my ever favourite Radiohead record. Fucking brilliant. |
..i own every aphex twin album
and kid a sounds nothing like aphex twin.. a few complex beats and "Sad melodies" aside, it really has nothing in common with aphex twin.. if anything, the song idioteque reminds me more of something autechre would do... |
