LOST is nearly over, thank fuck
the 2 1/2 hour finale is on sunday. so us in the uk can stream it sunday night.
all i can say thank fuck this travesty has finished. and we will finally find out what the conclusion to the whole bullshit christian garden of eden plot is. ive watched every episode since the pilot either when it was broadcast here on a stream or torrent of the US broadcast, and im so happy it will finally be over. if the finale was just 2 hours of charlie getting stuck in a time loop were he died over and over i would be happy. people who worked on the show answered a questionarre about the last 5 episodes and rated each one. they all got an average in the 8s and 9s, but the finale got an average of 9.3 so it would seem it will be quite decent. its just got so annoying. jin and sun deciding to die together BECAUSE THEY ARE SO IN LOVE! yeah whatever, the nuclear family is so great. fuck you. illana dying like that was so stupid. i liked evil ben/smoke lockes time together in the last episode. but the fact they have made it into this whole boring semi garden of eden biblical crap is just lame. i dont care about jacob and his bad cgi smoke monster bro. sometimes you feel you are watching a really great show, like the start of the scene on the submarine with the bomb. but then the horrible writing, music, characters and acting get in the way. oh well. if you dont watch it and are thinking of getting all the dvds or a torrent and watching it from the beginning i'd say don't bother. apart from some good episodes its mostly just gonna frustrate you. not worth the time. still one of the best shows on US tv which isn't saying much. |
Never seen a single frame of this show, and don't know anyone in real life that watches it. I read once that it was like "Twin Peaks meets the X-Files -- on an island!" Um. Okay.
|
I saw an episode or two and quickly deduced its worthlessness. I think it was during this part with a clock and a button and if the button didn't get pressed then something would happen, like a nuclear explosion.
It was a shitty and obvious suspense-building plot device. |
yep.
towards the end of the third season something fucked up with the execs and they didn't know how many more episodes they were going to get, but they had to finish the season, and so resorted to making episodes were absolutely nothing happened to further the plot in anyway. basically filler. from then on it was crap. and the whole explanation for the butoon in the end was "its just a joke". yeah lol. i know if you were to really get into it and pay close attention and think about whats going on it could be a great show. but i cant, because i just do not give a shit about any of these characters. its such a squandered oppurtunity. a major network show with a massive budget and 6 seasons of weird interesting drama... but i just dont give a shit anymore about any of the characters or what happens to them. they are all so unrealistic and wooden. you never get shit on tv prepared to take the kind of risks this show does, so its a real shame. |
I bet the butler did it.
|
ha1 i oove it and im not afraid to admit it. ive watched every episode since it started and will watch the rest of them. ive noticed that people who say "stupid show, or i hate that shit" dont actually watch it! you dont like it , fine! personally, im hooked!
no spoilers please! |
|
never watched an episode. could not care less.
|
I still think it's a stellar show. Sure there have been some missteps along the way, but what show doesn't have that? I'm glad it's ending too, but in the way of it ending on a good note, compared to dissolving into absurdity.
I don't see why you're so upset about the light thing. You've heard about it since early season one, and even saw it at the end of season four. But I kind of agree about Sun and Jin, bit of an eye roller there. Three boat explosions was just one too many for Jin I guess. I also don't get why you would say the Swan Station button was just a joke, it was pretty well illustrated that it definitely was not a joke. |
did ben not say it was just a joke.
im sure you're right. i just don't pay enough attention anymore. the light/dark thing is just cheap morality crap. boring. worst way to end it imo. |
He did say that, but for what reason it's not clear, it's one of those bad inconsistencies about the show. Because at the end of the season when they didn't press the button the Island almost collapsed in on itself. Desmond's not pushing of the button caused the plane to crash even.
I can see where you're coming from though. They've certainly simplified alot of things we originally guessed would have extremely complex answers. I still think alot of the themes that made the show interesting are still present, but the show probably won't end as densely as I would've preferred. |
I watched until the second season, and then was over it pretty quick.
I hope JJ Abrams does more movies, I loved Star Trek. |

^^^ this. I know a few people who were into it, but I just couldn't get beyond season two due to time restraints, and....just not caring. I'd rather re-watch every episode of Twin Peaks and the X-files, if I'm going to devote my time to something like that. |
Why do people make such a big deal about this JJ Abrams guy? The only thing of his I've seen was Cloverfield and that was a pile of shit.
|
Are they still stranded on that island? Wasn't that the original premise? I haven't owned a tv for years, I have no idea of what's this shit about.
|
they have been stranded for 6 years and also 1 year back in the 70's cos they travelled back in time. i know how awesome that sounds but believe me this show manages to make it boring.
|
i've never watched it, never been interested in it, it looks like those survivors reality shows, and i'm not crazy about j j abrams though his star trek was alright.
sounds like the tv equivalent of your friends-- something you're stuck with it |
Quote:
Well it's definitely not at all like a survivor reality show. Might wanna watch it before forming an opinion. I used to watch it when I was in high school, but they fucking refused to reveal anything interesting so I gave up on it and never went back. I'm actually really surprised it's still going. |
Watched the first and secon seasons. Tried to get back in later and could not figure out what the fuck was going on.
|
yay i don't have to hear about it (as much) any more yay
|
The reason it's still on is the same reason Twin Peaks failed when they revealed Laura Palmer's killer 5 episodes into season 2... by constantly making people guess and wonder and speculate, and by intriguing people constantly but not revealing anything -- that's a goose laying a golden egg.
Er, I think so anyway. I don't really know anything about this show, except every day some guy on the internet goes "MAN WHAT'S UP WITH LOST?" |

I don't think Linus knows when he's lying or telling the truth. He may not even know himself anymore. The show is what you make of it. I choose to think it is a great show with excellent writing. Yeah, seasons 4 and 5 were kinda lame but still entertaining. I'm pretty sure the finale is going to be played by muppets. |
The button wasn't a joke....not pressing it was the reason the electro-magnetism was releasedi n the surge that caused the plane to crash...

have you seen breaking bad?? that show makes up for all bad us television... and it's on fucking regular cable. Lost never, ever appealed to me. Ever. |

tit: when i say it looks like a survivor reality show it's because it LOOKS like that (i.e., the look of the video & the shooting style). i don't mean it "the story resembles," i mean "it appears to the eye". ![]() ![]() "and now the tribal council decides who goes home" it's shot to look like reality tv. it's a huge visual turnoff. as for the story, i never could make sense of it, and the dialogue was shit, so i was never interested. i had tried getting into "alias" before (from the same writer) because there was a hot looking chick in it, but fuck, the storyline was so dull, her legs be damned. Quote:
fucking a. i know some people who work in it. btw, other good/great american shows of the 00's in random order-- the wire (ok, not so random, best show ever), sopranos, rescue me (season 1 & 2 i've seen so far are fun), the first 2 seasons of weeds (better use of legs than alias), the shield (fucking awesome), arrested development, sons of anarchy (currently on f/x), curb your enthusiasm, west wing up to season 4 (nerdy awesome), firefly (joss whedon rules) + dollhouse (in spite of its precipitous end), large chunks of battlestar galactica (uneven, but ok as a whole), dexter (fucking great), 6 feet under, etc... need to catch deadwood, i've heard good things but never seen it. and a lot more i haven't seen or don't remember. |
Yeah, use promotional photos for your argument, not footage from the show. I can't see any of the reality tv staples that would make it look it like that. Your distaste of the dialogue and/or story I can understand. But to criticize the filming as reality tv-esque is just strange and unfounded.
Anyway, more positively, Deadwood is highly recommended, incredible show. Probably the best Brad Dourif has ever been. Solid call on The Wire, if not the greatest show at least the greatest ending to a tv show. |

random find, around 1:10 http://www.hulu.com/watch/132034/lost-dr-linus ha ha ha ha besides the fact that they look like a bunch of terrible non-actors, like members of a big brother cast or something. i can't really explain, this show has always repelled me. same as "24". holy fuck that show is so gimmicky and contrived (24 i mean). but anyway, matters of taste, etc. however-- another recommendation for deadwood?-- thanks-- must check it out soon. |
what at 1:10?

sorry, 0:1:10 torches!! in the tropics!! |
After all the self-referring "I'm LOST" jokes had ceased, I had hoped everyone would have quit that show in the breadth of that joke. I assume that those who kept with it are terminally over-analytical? If so, I suggest you tune your analytical skills to quality, it may save you some time.

finale tonight. its been broadcast at the same time all over the world. so in the uk sky1 are showing it at 5am! which is kinda cool.
its 2 1/2 hours long. i cant wait. just to get it over and done with and out of my life. and yes, it is supposed to be very good. considering a load of the cast were asked to rate the last 5 eps of the season out of 10, and it got the highest rating with a 9.3, and mind they gave low ratings to some of the other episodes. supposed to be quite dark, and apparently there isn't much hope of any of the main characters getting together, altho there is apparently a new couple forming, that "there is no way any of you will guess". ana lucia and miles is my guess. they arent cool enough to do sawyer and jack, or ana lucia and kate. |
Problem is that i bet they don't answer everything, causing people to still be talking about it for years
|
apparently they will answer a lot.
it is meant to be the last ever episode and have a lot of finality to it, according to the writers. no comeback, no spin off. the end. |
still won't shut people up imho
|
|
SUCKED. it was so terrible. so so terrible. terry-fucking-bull
|
i wasted 6 years for that? seriously i knew i was getting ripped off all along. but still. it really really sucked. you couldn't have imagined a more simplistic, stupid, predictable ending.
|
i know most of you don't watch this show and don't care. but just in case you are interested. the finale was so unbelievably bad, it was the worst episode the show has EVER had. it sucked. in the end they are all in a fucking church. "oh. all that alternative reality stuff was just a place you made up so you could go to church with your friends". never ever watch this show. never be tempted to download season 1 and start from there. you will just be dissapointed. so FUCKING BAD. really. for once comic book guy is right, and can not ever be questioned on this. WORST EPISODE EVER.
|
Hey, I liked it. In typical Lost style, they answered questions but left room for ambiguity.
I'm watching Jimmy Kimmel with 'alternate endings'--they were pretty funny. |
