I hold fast to this: AssBlaster had some extremely funny remarks and JOKES he made concerning Laila. She couldn't take the jokes, because they were offensive. So, instead of neg repping him (as he maintains she never did) she reported his antics to the board authorities. Sonic Youth, the band that we share a joint liking of decided to ban AssBlaster for above reasons. As far as the phone call, yeah WHOEVER did it (Hayden and Ass deny the actual phoning of Mr. Habib) it shouldn't have been done. I mean honestly, its very perturbing to hear about this sort of thing. What the hell did Habib ever do to you. Or maybe you want to talk to someone who actually knows Sonic Youth that well. In any case, NOT COOL, ZEUS!

This board has become pathetic, and the only reasons I keep coming back are that there's a lot of good music stuff gets discussed here and because there are about a dozen people here who I like and wouldn't want to lose sight of.

These things are ongoing.
People get to know each other, and choose to communicate in other ways due to the continuing devolution going on.
I think panto means older as in "longstanding." I know a lot of the people I have gotten to know better off the forum are still quite a bit younger than me, though I never really think about it.

Just in the short few weeks I've been here, I've seen some ridiculous, over threaded, over posted nonsense....misdirected youth angst throughout. Maybe in time it will pass. I enjoy goofin' as much as anyone, but sometime this shit has gone too far...sad.

I'll stick around and read all the interesting things SY related and not. But I do hate opening a forum page and seeing 3/4's of the threads about banning Assblaster, Hayden and their ilk. I spose this kind of post just eggs on that type of person....but maybe, just maybe they'll see the err of their ways and bug off...or post something substanitive....like an asssmoker !!!!!

well i have met over dozen people from the SY boards over the years, many that i have met have become close friends, and one even became my girlfriend, so while the forum is nice to a point, it doesn't have that personable touch

as for the age thing, yeah it is a much older crowd then the median age on this board, I am the youngest in the group at 23 (in a week) where the average age of everyone else is about 28 (ironically the age of Jenn), and some of us rarely post let alone look at the new board with the exception of set lists, pics, and reviews (ie staying on the subject at hand)

for example, a group of us got a chalet at ATP UK 04, Jennthebenn, Naomi, Kelly (sisterk), Chris (krisyridols i think, it's been a while since i have talked to him) and I, and met up with Toilet & Bowels and pokkeherrie who had their own chalets, and we have been friends since, in-fact we are doing ATP this December again and we'll finally get to meet Iain in person

also have met people in the Midwest last time we were out there in 04, Mike (aka Rupert 'Styles" Stilinski or Eliminator Senior), Nicole (nerdosquare, who is still out there in noiseland, talked to her a couple months ago), Sonic Kurt, and Waltercarson

in other places, met Velcrobananapeels in Pittsburgh in 03, met !@#$% and his wife on several occasions (including giving Naomi, Jenn, and I a lift back to our motel in LA), got to meet Chris Lawrence in Seattle a couple weeks ago

soon shall meet up with Amy Vega in Brooklyn with Annie from Indie Cock, and we'll see who pops up in the next few weeks, hope to finally see krastian

I seem to remeber when I started lurking back on the old board, not that I've ever progressed far beyond that level, there was a similar blow up, maybe not as severe, but similar. People got pissed off, some stuff was said, a few people fucked off etc.
And of course everything settled down for a while, and then the whole trolling thing kicked up and 1 or 2 others fucked off before it settled again. I couldn't count the number of 'this board's gone to shit' threads & funny up-to-a-point slow-motion trainwreck type arguments i've thumbed through.

All I can say is for those who arn't happy either add your name to the illustrious list of those who've fucked off with their dignity intact or just settle and wait till it calms down, and it will.

For the others, that kind of dicking around is, and was, really funny for quite a while, but keep hammering away at it and it gets BORING and just a little bit irritating, but do whatever you feel you have to do...

Well, not entirely....I'm going to wear a foil sheet over my entire body for the duration to protect me from any radiation and I'm not going to say anything incase the FBI are bugging all the chalets.

I don't post much but I find that there are a lot of irritating people on here in general. I don't mean everyone and I don't know that many people here well enough to comment on anyone specific but for such a cool band, I'm afraid that the discussion board is a bit of a let down.

Maybe I was being a little harsh with michael71, but I can't stand that sort of drama from people that hardly come on here and start lashing out on members for being "irritating in general" among other things. I'm not a longtime boardie on this forum as a lot of you know, but I try to be serious AND have fun with you all. I've been on other forums and I can tell ya that most of them are crap. Normally the info is ONLY about the band or you get a load of porn. I think that this forum has members that are open to talk about almost anything and everything. The band, other music, film, guitar pedals, fears, meals, conflicts, art, drinks, etc. If the forum was only about the youth (and I don't mean it disrespectful), it would'nt be the same. To only have intellectual conversations, is not everything and would make the forum an elite and to serious. I like the way it's improved after the last punchup some members had with other members and the administrator. If it happened again, I'd probably leave for good.
