NR & FoxBen discuss GBV
Ben, I thought of an amazing GBV song this morning: "The Ascended Master's Grogshop." I'm sure you've heard it, but if not -- stop what you're doing and hear it. It's so short and amazing and pretty.
Now then on the bright side Demons do not dare Nor do I think they care To join us in a toast No they never want to boast It was originally on the "I Am A Tree" single, but was reissued on the HARDCORE UFO'S box. |

![]() hey guys this thread is gay |
Hey dude, haha, a thread only for both of us, woah !
I've got the "I Am a Tree" single on CD, it's one of my favorite songs on Mag Earwhig! and yep, "The Ascended Master's Grogshop" is a really good song. I already know the GBVDB, it's an amazing website, very complete ! |
word. You have me kind of back into things with them. I haven't really even listened to them in at least 3 yrs. So. Yeah. I think the last record I bought was Pollard's SUPERMAN IS A ROCKER. Or um. The Circus Devils album from 2007 then.
|
Hey, I'm glad I got you back into GBV again, once you're into them again, you can hardly stop !
I have never heard Superman Was a Rocker, I'm not really a fan of Pollard's solo records (except Choreographed Man of War, which is amazing, and Not in My Airforce). On the other hand, I think Boston Spaceships is a great follow-up to GBV, it's a really good band and they've got a new record coming out next month ! |
PMs perhaps?

"I told you it wasn't such a good idea !"

I'm getting too old for this shit. |
Shocker in Gloomtown rules, original and Breeders cover (great video too). Actually all of Grand Hour EP rocks.
|
The Grand Hour is great... BREAK EVEN !!!
|
Grandfather Westinghouse is one of my favourite songs of theirs. They have equally loads of good and crap songs. That's the way it goes when you go for a sprawling discography.
|
everything single thing they did between about 1992 and 1996 is fantastic, before and after that period there are plenty of great songs, but some fairly forgetable ones too.
|
I <3 GBV. That is all.
