Soundcloud (do you have one?)

I do - it's here.

Other people from this forum with one -
Diesel
Florya
Herr Marras/ Death

These people are all brilliant as well. I know Florya uses it an awful lot, and his stuff is rarely anything other than exquisite.

I've been quite resistant to putting stuff online before - I don't really like lastfm's layout, myspace is too glitzy [etc] but Soundcloud has it about right. They limit your uploads by the length of the song rather than by filesize - so you don't have to compress things to buggery (as with myspazz). It's also pretty good for using as a scratchpad for ideas, rather than putting them on rapidshare or whatever. At the moment, it's not swamped with spamming and there's a bit more of an emphasis on not-quite-rock people - I've found some pretty good stuff on there, like Combat Astronomy and Heddy Boubaker and there's a minimum of shit indie bands (that I've found at least)

Anyway, yeah. If you have one, post it here (and follow me, because I'm brilliant); if you don't, get one, you lazy cunt.

Glice 10.09.2010 10:10 AM

Oh, I should've mentioned - it's quite good for DJ mixes as well; there's more and more Dubsteppy types doing things on there, some of which aren't terrible.

I've just found Robe on there as well, with their new radical change of tact from boys' music (boo) to big gay eurohouse (yay).

Savage Clone 10.09.2010 11:29 AM

I might use this for live recordings.

Glice 10.09.2010 11:52 AM

You very should. If only because I'd appreciate an online presence for yourself that didn't involve myspazz.

Savage Clone 10.09.2010 12:04 PM

You and me both. Plus we have a new LP coming out in about four seconds. Cover assemblage this weekend, in fact.

Glice 10.09.2010 12:08 PM

Awesome. I still haven't purchased the first one, tragically. Are there any left on vinyl?

Savage Clone 10.09.2010 12:11 PM

There are a few. I'll see if I can hook you up. Barely any left though, thankfully. The new one is better sounding and has better material though (even though I still like the first one). Die-cut cover with OBI and insert.
I'll post noodz next week.

Glice 10.09.2010 12:14 PM

I'm hard just thinking about it. That and the fisting sounds from the other browser.

Neat. I made one.
Looks like less of a hassle than myspace.

auto-aim 10.09.2010 11:08 PM

Mine is hisnakedtorso. there's only one failed demo on there, as a test, but it's for a new project/band/thing which will be seeing the light of day soon. I want to get using this site and will be checking out all of you guys - it seems pretty cool

Florya 10.10.2010 04:07 AM

Thanks for the kind words Mr Glice.
I find soundcloud really useful. The privacy settings allow me to use it to send sketches of songs to kate so that she can work out what magic she can add.
They also allow our record labels to download our tracks when they're finished, so there's none of this sendspace/megaupload nonsense.
I hardly ever look at our MySpace page any more.

BTW - did I mention that our first 'proper' album is out - it's called RIN, and you can get it here- http://www.somehowrecordings.co.uk/shop.html

There aren't many left, so you'll need to get a wriggle on if you want one :-)

Glice 10.11.2010 07:13 AM

Yeah, I've always been quite resistant to online-y music things, but soundcloud means you can put up some very long pieces with minimum ballache. In fact, I might have to put some of the old stuff up there soon... hmm...

Derek 10.11.2010 07:35 AM

I'm on there now as well:

Myspace is horrid. Virb was kinda nice. Soundcloud is probably the best option around for "serious" music-"sharing" (not in the megaupload acception).
BTW your subliminal ad worked, just ordered RIN ;).
Glice I'm still ill and an asshole too, your new package is still here along with ploesj's. Tomorrow I'm forced to leave this prison, I'll send them out both.
I have a soundcloud account, but I'm too shy to up my stuff.
I just use it to follow people.
Now I'll follow more people thanks to this thread.

Derek 10.11.2010 07:40 AM

One question, can you choose what order your tracks appear as on your profile? I was going to upload some older stuff but I don't want them to appear at the top of the page.

Glice 10.11.2010 07:42 AM

Unfortunately, I think you're stuck with the order you upload them in. I had a re-jiggle because of that. It's a bit odd (and there may be a way around it) but I suppose it's encouraging you to use it more rather than stick your 4 best songs up. Or something.

Derek 10.11.2010 07:45 AM

Damn, looks like I'll just be uploading new stuff then. I don't want someone's first impression of me to be a recording I did when I was 15 or anything!

Urgh. Any chance for a combo-lps + int shipping superoffer?
No, well, please, hook me up too, I'm not sure I can afford them right now, but I'll try and get them asap........

Add the dates/year to the song titles.
Anyone interested enough to spend some time to listen and form a personal idea will also note the different dates.
No?
Am I too optimistic?

Derek 10.11.2010 08:13 AM

Haha, it's a solution, I'll give you that. :)

StevOK 10.11.2010 10:46 AM

*follows everyone in thread*

Here's mine: http://soundcloud.com/stevok

Follow me! New stuff in the works...

chicka 10.11.2010 11:04 AM

Wow every time you turn around just more music out there for an avid listener like myself. Right now I'm locked into Buddy Guy but I promise to check you all out later. Any chance someone has put together a group of SYG folks that download on Soundcloud?

shabbray2.0 10.11.2010 11:43 AM

^^would be a nice group indeed. somehow I never used the group feature on there that much. maybe I should ?!

Yay!!

I hope you like it!!

Glice 10.11.2010 04:21 PM

Group created, why not join?

http://soundcloud.com/groups/syg

As soon as some other people join I'll make them mods so I can happily do fuck all except infrequent removal of people from the group for my own amusement.

Derek 10.11.2010 04:33 PM

I joined, cuntface.

Glice 10.11.2010 05:07 PM

As you did. The yoke of responsibility is leaden with tears of mourning - be sure you bear it with austerity. And if there's any more of that language directed at me I'll be demoting you quicker than you can listen to a UUUUU track (so about 4 FUCKING YEARS).

I jest of course.

Derek 10.12.2010 06:10 AM

Interestingly enough, the next UUUUUU album will be around that timeframe... just need to find a c9347687659872 tape and I'm set.

Or I could do a boxset of 5000 CD-Rs.

Glice 10.12.2010 06:32 AM

Is AlexTrackOne someone on here? Only he's joined our group. I'd promote him, but I've no idea who he is. Not that that matters, I suppose.

Edit: No, looks like he just joins every group possible to get people to listen to his music. Which seems to work. Good for him.

shabbray2.0 10.12.2010 06:51 AM

joined

edit:
how about a group collabo? would be easy to do thanks to the cloud and maybe surprising to listen to the outcome...

atsonicpark 10.12.2010 07:05 AM

I guess I could start one...

Derek 10.12.2010 07:13 AM

You get like 2 hours of upload time, perfect for your longer endeavours.

shabbray2.0 10.12.2010 07:15 AM

yep. been on there like 2 or 3 years now (since the beta phase) and it gets better and better. its full of people who know what they are doing I think

Oh neat, so I could upload, like, 2 Robe. tracks? Haha.

Actually, that's interesting, I was just putting up Scissor Shock songs but I guess I could throw up some robe. and ruinhorse too. Maybe some Ranger Raccoon and Stagedive Suicide, even?

Glice 10.12.2010 11:13 AM

I'm up for a collaboration... I may record something this weekend for same. I have a drone that I've been meaning to do something with, might as well throw it out for others' posterity.

shabbray2.0 10.12.2010 01:14 PM

^^nice one!!! looking forward to it.

shabbray2.0 10.17.2010 04:31 AM

any news so far?
or do I still have the skill to end serious threads in the form of posting in it?
