How will we die out?

How do you think we humans will eventually become extinct? Sorry for the pessimistic topic, I just thought it would be an interesting topic.

I predict it will either be because of our current destruction of the environment, or we will solve that and evolve into a different race (or branch out into several?), thus humans as we know them will be extinct.

foldback 07.17.2006 09:05 PM

I'm not sure, but I think Bears will definitely have something to do with it.

Unholy killing machines, those bears...

k-krack 07.17.2006 09:09 PM

word. bears are dangerous motherfuckers. seriously though, i bet well kill ourselves out.

Пятхъдесят Шест 07.17.2006 10:39 PM

Ignorance will lead to our demise.

That sucks.

You know, I keep watching History and National Geographic channel specials on natural disasters and apocalypse scenarios. I'm fascinated. It is almost like we want the apocalypse to happen.

Maybe it won't happen. Maybe we will go on exisiting. We will design space craft capable of making the centuries long journey to distant star systems.

Revelation is said by some to not be a message of the apocalypse but a metaphor about the triumph of good over evil as well as an allegory about Rome.

Cantankerous 07.17.2006 11:19 PM

i know i want it to happen. what great fun that would be for me.

Global warming is a bigger threat than terrorism.

nicfit 07.18.2006 03:04 AM

eventually the sun will expand before dying out and will simply burn our planet.wether there will still be humans on it or not,i do not know.

Bastian 07.18.2006 03:13 AM

We won`t die out!
Well, at least not until the end of the Universe.
Especially not, if we make it off this rock and spread to a few other rocks.
A multi-planetary civilization is not so easily wiped-off as one that resides on a single planet.

Which will happen is that mankind will evolve, becoming posthuman, via cybernetic implants and genetic modification.
Perhabs some would see this as the "end of man".

IntoTheGroovey 07.18.2006 03:13 AM

we'll all be abducted by UFO's that will take us back in time to the stone age so we can start humanity all over again.

jon boy 07.18.2006 03:31 AM

if we do it will be a combination of things. global warming, the environment, war, natural disasters and rats and spiders evolving into some kind of super animal.

LouReed 07.18.2006 05:01 AM

Everything mentioned plus FOOD. Eating synthetical shit.

Hip Priest 07.18.2006 05:09 AM

Given our massive presence here on the planet, and our ability to combat things, its unlikely that one phenomenon could wipe us out altogether.

But there seem to be a variety of factors such as terrorism, problems with food, natural disasters, diseases such as bird flu etc that, potentially, are poised to hit us all at once, although it may never happen. Combine those with the possibility of nuclear war sometime soon(ish) and we could be in serious trouble.

Tokolosh 07.18.2006 09:00 AM

Cantankerous 07.18.2006 09:03 AM

Tokolosh 07.18.2006 09:04 AM

I knew it was a black hairy mamba!

Cantankerous 07.18.2006 09:06 AM

it's purple. because it's fractured. it's really more of a lovely shade of eggplant.

Is that really information from the CIA? I would believe it which makes perfect sense why we're fighting terrorism vs worrying about global warming....ass backwards administration!

Some are evolving and then some are devolving!! Pretty soon we'll have monkeys and aliens and the new monkeys will out of jealousy will try to overtake us evolved humans and kill us. But we'll have some great technology and kick their ass.

I think this is true. I've seen a lot of stuff on tv etc about global warming. It seems that we really are completely fucked unless we do somthing fast.

well I know global warming is a threat and an immediate one for sure, but what I was hoping for clarification on is if that is some sort of public information available from the CIA website or something, the actual CIA saying that from their professional opinion.......

You know there will be naturalists that stay away from genetic modification and cybernetic implants.

Although to live long enough to make it to another planet, we will probably have to modify our genes.

Phlegmscope 07.19.2006 09:40 PM

Apparently the earth will be suitable for maintaining life still for about 200 million years or so. After that the sun has dilated enough to vaporize all water on the earth. In cosmic timeline a few hundred million years is quite a short period of time.

Obviously humans as we know it don't exist anymore by that time.

You and Stephen Colbert would get along swimingly. I think either nuclear war or a body from space (asteroid, meteorite, comet).
