Oh, Willie.

Willie Nelson was busted with six ounces of bud at a border patrol checkpoint in Sierra Blanca today on his way home from Cali. What is the state of the nation coming to when we're arresting 77 year old men and trying to tell them they don't have the right to smoke pot?

Willie says he's doing fine. He lost six ounces.

Glice 11.28.2010 07:03 AM

He smoked pot on the roof of the Whitehouse. He wrote Red Headed Stranger. He has been arrested at 77. I heart Willie.

I also like that that last sentence will raise a smile with the Brits.

This is what happens when "belief" affects reality.

Glice 11.28.2010 08:41 AM

What point are you making there? That the Christian right doesn't like pot? Only I'm pretty sure Willie's a Christian as well.

This is why I REFUSE to be part of either side. It's all the same just a different name.

hevusa 11.30.2010 10:57 AM

I just don't understand why the people who "believe" that God created marijuana would allow their government to ban it. Where is the outrage from the large majority of Americans who "believe". Why aren't more people like Willie???

SONIC GAIL 11.30.2010 11:04 AM

that thought process is a minority thus I find myself here

Outrage on pot? Fuck me you've got a skewed vision. There's no need to put phrase marks around 'believe'. Belief in the benign affects of weed doesn't make it a political issue worth shouting about. It's only really stoners who care, and to be honest, fuck stoners.

hevusa 11.30.2010 11:40 AM

The majority of Americans believe in God and that God created marijuana. It makes no sense why they would allow what they view as "God's creation" to be banned. Where is the outrage? Hypocrisy through and through is what happens when you "believe".

Glice 11.30.2010 11:47 AM

Have you read the Bible at all? Now I'm not saying that it's the font of all information and legitimation, but the bit that covers God creating sin comes very early on and covers whatever spurious point you're making.

Glice 11.30.2010 11:48 AM

And, again, there's no need to put phrase marks around believe, unless you're suggesting they don't, which you're not. Or if you are, you're a fuckwit. Which you are, so I suppose I'm talking myself into a corner there.

But, honestly it's getting more and more attention and is starting to be a pretty hot topic and many major news stations. Let's not forget, that the people who rule shit now will eventually die and an entire new generation of people will hopefully handle things differently.
One by one more states are approving of medicinal use/decriminalization. i think eventually it will cut down the cost of "war on drugs" considering that probably half of the people in jail are in for weed related crimes.

Glice 11.30.2010 12:05 PM

The thing for me is that stoners treat the subject of legalisation as it's a serious problem. Ok, I don't think people should be made criminals for a relatively benign indulgence, but in practice you have to be very stupid to get caught with weed.

The only time weed becomes a serious issue for me is how the criminal world operates in order to maintain supply. But I don't really think that's the issue for most stoners, who rarely engage with politics beyond their insidious affection for a boring drug.

Glice 11.30.2010 12:13 PM

So you're making a point about religion based on one paragraph of a book which extends to some thousands of pages? In some of those thousands of pages there are issues surrounding the sin of self-indulgence and self-harm, none of which extend to detailing weed in particular but which will explain that it's a far more complex issue than merely being covered by the creation myth of Genesis.

You have to be VERY stupid to think that is the only issue "stoners" have with prohibition; getting caught. How about being able to sit at a "cafe" with outdoor seating on a sunny day and enjoy a joint? How about being treated like an adult by my government? How about the punishment fitting "the crime"??

And the majority of Americans are Christians who think their God created it, yet the majority of Christians in America are also against legalization and decriminalization???? Fucking RETARDED!!!

Glice 11.30.2010 01:06 PM

As I mentioned before, God created a lot of things which are prohibited but not necessarily harmful. Pork, shellfish, working on Shabat and mixed-fabric clothes, for instance. There's a prohibition against wizards which has entirely failed to strike down David Blane (so far).

It's not that I'm stupid, it's that stoners are, in general, incredibly annoying and selfish people. I enjoy masturbation but I don't really want to do it in front of my friends with my mid-morning mochachino.

floatingslowly 11.30.2010 01:25 PM

I'm torn between trying to +rep glice or just waiting for the neg to kick in....

maybe, instead, I'll just post "Kurds" and "FREE WIZARDS".

yeah, that's exactly what I'll do.

the bible is so ridiculous. how people allow this work of fiction to influence their system of morality (or anything else) is beyond all comprehension for a mind not indoctrinated by religion at an early age.

Sure, but not marijuana. So the your point is completely moot (as usual).

Right, so, your reading comprehension is at a minimum, and we've been over this subject before, so I'm going to stop. And put you on ignore until I learn to not engage in preposterous arguments with someone who's clearly an utter fuckwit.

I don't particularly care to defend religion because we're all aware it's a massive cunt. All I'm saying is that weed is such a pointless thing to care about, unless you're a stoner or a fuckwit, of which you are clearly both.

Glice 11.30.2010 02:06 PM

The thing is, I've been a stoner in the past. I think most people have. I've been a lot more besides. In itself, smoking weed doesn't really bother me one way or another. It's potentially harmful, but so are most things, and everyone's aware of that. It's the zeal of stoners which irritates me. Yes, it's something that probably should be legalised (with an s or a z); no, I don't think it's anywhere near the top of the list of problems in most developed democracies. The main reason for it being legalised, in my view, is that that would take away the money from the incredibly nefarious drugs cartels, but it's this view that's nearly always under-represented by 'stoners'. I remember suchfriends saying he spends a lot of time making sure he's buying home-grown stuff, and that's commendable, but incredibly rare in stoners, in my experience.
