I'm not sure... but sometime this month. I've been checking the website every day. |
checkin' every day...
samples on amazon sound good. I think this is the album I've been waiting for since he did those tracks on the Heavy soundtrack, late 90's i think... |
direct link to itunes samples... (album for sale for $9.90)
1:30 samples which is a decent length..... but amazon is selling whole album for $7.99 |
|
the Chris Brokaw title is quite nice.
|
Will listen to it tonight.
|
LP now available, just ordered my copy!
|
Just ordered mine
|
Shit, just when i emptied my paypal account. Gonna have to wait a bit before i can order this one.
Thanks very much for the heads-up, though. |
via email from the label...
Also, in the next few weeks we will be releasing a limited 100 copy only edition of the Thurston Moore 12-String Meditations for Jack Rose album. This version will be on color vinyl and come in special packaging with all new artwork from Christina Carter and Bill Nace. They will be $45 and only available through the VDSQ site. An email announcement will go out on the VDSQ mailing list when they are available. |

You gotta hate that shit! |
oh man.... artwork from Christina Carter AND Bill Nace? That's fucking epic. I just bought the FLAC, so on the bright side I didn't have to fish out $45 :D
|
very interesting and nice of Thurston to do this tribute to a guitarist who was really coming into his own by the end there (LUCK IN THE VALLEY is a GREAT album, though BLACK DIRT SESSIONS is his essential album). can't wait to hear this.

Double dang... I should have stopped by here first!. |
I am digging this album a lot.
|
I checked out a few previews of the tracks at one of the download sites (I think it was at itunes), and liked what I heard.
But bearing in mind the $10(-ish) shipping that goes on top of the cost of the album, I think I can make do with the basic edition, rather than the $45 one. Now if the special edition had a couple of extra tracks, well that would be different. |
I know Thurston's smaller releases are unique but I can't dig this one. There is a spontaneity in them but often they just seem unfinished.

I think this is one of the ones I will dig the mostest |
Just got in mail. Ok, so maybe not one of the ones I will dig the mostest. Still cool, maybe my expectations interfered...
|
I listened the samples a month ago in Amazon and was very suspicious about the album. But then I decided to order it anyway. It came yesterday. To my big suprise I like it a lot! Altough I haven´t heard any Thurston´s improvisation albums, I think this is much more related to them than for example Psychic hearts or Trees outside. But I think this is much more beautiful album than those other improvisation albums. I´m not heard much of 12-string acoustic playing (of course I have Hendrix hear my train a-comin and also many Byrds and seventies prog rock albums that is used electric 12-string) but I think Thurston is a true virtuoso in 12-string!
