I was top once....in the first week of the new board! Fuck, thinking about it this board isn't even new anymore. It's been years.

Wow, this truely is a topic everyone cares about, this got more replies than any topic of recent memory, especially way more than topics regarding music.

Anyway, I haven't looked at the rep thing in a long long time, I always thought Glice or Moshe should be # 1 though. I mean, Derek's my best friend, but in the context of this board, those two (and Dead fucking Air) post the most consistently valuable stuff on here. Not that that matters in the least.

rep has NOTHING to do with "value".

It's just an easy thing to talk about. Usually if people say less about something its because theyre actually working it out. This is just frivolous. Dont worry. Often people engage in pointless banter as a counterpoint to actual stress in their lives. It's not an indication of complete and utter failure.

the rep is meaningless. atsoinc probably got 203897434553 points for talking about butthole fingering, but probably DIDN"T get the rep he deserved for turning us on to new records/films/games.

sorry to disappoint you children but getting high rep these days is a lot easier than when the board started. because the amount of rep you can give is related to how much you have, any snot can come in today, get rep from a couple of high-ranking people and get a level of rep that would take months for people to reach when the board started. those little green squares accumulated very fucking slowly.

so today basically whoever spends more time here gets the most rep-- it's just a function of the math involved in it.

there's also the ball-cupping effect-- many people feel compelled to give you rep when you rep them, so if you want high rep all you need to do is dish it out like mad and people will soon rep you back and bam, you're suddenly a rep monster.

anyway, when i was your age i had to walk 10 miles to school in the snow without shoes ha ha ha.

Isn't that the point in the first place? And how much of this is just hating, if you look at the top SEVENTY FIVE people there are now newbies, they are all SYG veteranos like ourselves, so I am not quite sure what your point is exactly? There are no newbies falsifying their rep rank by getting artificially inflated by rep points from ranking vets, because all the uptown top ranking SYG folks are OG..

clearly you are hating on derek with your implication that his high ranking rep is not quite as top-ranking in the context of artificial inflation by having himself been repped by ranking members, which considering that the top 75 odd SYG members are all OG vets, that seems a bit redundant. If we are all giving out larger (in proportion) rep points then rookies to each other, then it is the same thing as if we were all rookies. Therefore you attempts to invalidate derek's pretensions to the upper echelons of SYG are rather baseless, so what was your point exactly?

I'm nobody on this forum really, I ain't shit. Rep is extremely trivial and I don't even know why people rep me so much. It's not like I make quality post after quality post hahahah.

But still, this is about trying to defeat atsonicpark (my arch nemesis) so yeah, enough of the arguments my friends.

Rep points and rank are trivial yes, but I actually quite like getting repped and reading rep comments, it give a better, more personalized validation that all of this SYG is not an absolute waste of time, and that some of us out there actually people and not just spambots ;)

ooooh, such drama-- i really like derek, and i believe he knows this, and i think as a person with a sense of humor he's aware himself that this "great achievement" of towering rep is nothing to be taken seriously, so he plays along for laughs and so the rest of we all (mostly).
