Billy Fury died aged 42.
![]() Bedevilled by ill health and overtaken by changing musical fashions, Fury's final hit came in 1965 with 'Give Me Your Word'. The following year he left Decca for Parlophone, debuting with a Peter And Gordon song, 'Hurtin' Is Lovin'. Subsequent recordings included David Bowie's 'Silly Boy Blue', the Bee Gees' 'One Minute Woman' (both 1968) and Carole King's 'Why Are You Leaving' (1970), but the singer was unable to regain his erstwhile success. In 1971 he underwent open-heart surgery, but recovered to record 'Will The Real Man Stand Up' on his own Fury label, and played the part of 'Stormy Tempest' in the film That'll Be The Day (1973). A second major operation in 1976 forced Billy to retire again, but he re-emerged at the end of the decade with new recordings of his best-known songs, and several live and television appearances. In 1981 Fury struck a new deal with Polydor, but his health was rapidly deteriorating and on 28 January 1983 he succumbed to a fatal heart attack. |

or did he? there is some mystery surrounding his death as he was a very bad man at times and was wanted by so many people. |
"Fell" sounds very dodgy indeed. Mysterious is more like it.

![]() After leaving the Velvet Underground for good, Angus traveled around between North Africa, India, Greece, the Middle East and finally finding his place in Nepal. A student of both La Monte Young and Aleister Crowley (he was working a script for a film version of Crowley's Diary Of A Drug Fiend before he died), he would begin to blend Tibetan mysticism with his music to create magickal forms of transcendent sound through various drone techniques. He died of tuberculosis in Kathmandu in 1979 |

![]() Jayne was born as Wayne Rogers and grew up in Dallas, Georgia. She started with makeup and feminine clothes while still in his teens, in the mid-'60s. Moving to New York City, Jayne established a niche on the hippie edge of the gay community - in the summer of 1969 Jayne both rioted at the Stonewall and went to Woodstock. While working menial day jobs, (e.g. Optical Clerk - American Optical Company - sacked for wearing make-up) she was soon sharing an apartment with Andy Warhol superstars Jackie Curtis and Holly Woodlawn who had a great influence on her. Jayne acted in stage productions like the Warhol's Pork and DJ'ed at Max's Kansas City on Park Avenue South , where she began performing with a rock band "Queen Elizabeth", in 1972. She has recorded some unreleased tracks: Stick It In Me (1975), Rock 'N' Roll Enema (1975), I Need A Man (1975),and Putty, with Backstreet Boys. Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky
7 May 1840 - 6 November 1893 ![]() Until recent years it had been generally assumed that Tchaikovsky died of cholera after drinking contaminated water. However, a controversial theory, published in 1980 by Aleksandra Orlova and based only on oral history, explains Tchaikovsky's death as a suicide. In this account, Tchaikovsky committed suicide by consuming small doses of arsenic following an attempt to blackmail him over his homosexuality. His alleged death by cholera (whose symptoms have some similarity with arsenic poisoning) is supposed to have been a cover for this suicide. According to the theory, Tchaikovsky's own brother Modest Tchaikovsky, also homosexual, helped conspire to keep the secret. There are many circumstantial events that some say lend credence to the theory, such as wrong dates on the death certificate, conflicting testimony from Modest and the doctor about the timeline of his death, the fact that Tchaikovsky's funeral was open casket, and that the sheets from his deathbed were merely laundered instead of being burned. There are also passages in Rimsky-Korsakov's autobiography years later about how people at the funeral kissed Tchaikovsky on the face, even though he had died from cholera. These passages were deleted by Russian authorities from later editions of Rimsky-Korsakov's book. The suicide theory is hotly disputed by others, including Alexander Poznansky, who argues that Tchaikovsky could easily have drunk tainted water because his class regarded cholera as a disease that afflicted only poor people, or because restaurants would mix cool boiled water with unboiled; that the circumstances of his death are entirely consistent with cholera; and that homosexuality ("gentlemanly games") was widely tolerated among the upper classes of Tsarist Russia. To this day, no one knows how Tchaikovsky truly died. |

He worked as a pastry chef until Ann Magnuson heard him sing on a snowbank and asked him to perform at her New Wave Vaudeville show at the Irving Plaza Club. He came out in a transparent tunic and airbrushed make-up, sang an aria from Saint-Saens' Samson and Delilah, and Klaus Nomi was born. Apparently David Bowie saw a film of that performance, and the next thing you know Nomi was singing backup for Bowie on Saturday Night Live. Klaus Nomi's popularity exploded, and he released two albums on RCA, and toured Europe and the United States. His incessant schedule took a toll on his health and he would take massive amounts of antibiotics to keep his voice steady. ![]() Meek was obsessed with the occult and the idea of "the other side". He would set up tape machines in graveyards in a vain attempt to record voices from beyond the grave. In particular, he had an obssession with Buddy Holly and other dead rock and roll musicians. His efforts were often hindered by his paranoia (Meek was convinced that Decca Records would put hidden microphones behind his wallpaper in order to steal his ideas), drug use and attacks of rage or depression. He had been charged with "importuning for immoral purposes" in 1963 and his then-illegal homosexuality put him under further pressure. On February 3, 1967, the eighth anniversary of Buddy Holly's death, Meek killed his landlady and then himself with a single barreled shotgun that he had confiscated from Heinz Burt at his Holloway Road home/studio. Meek had flown into a rage and taken it from Burt when he informed Meek that he used it while on tour, to shoot animals. Meek had kept it under his bed, along with the shells. As the gun had been registered to Burt, he was questioned intensively by police, before being eliminated from their enquiries. A blue plaque has since been placed at the location of the studio to commemorate Meek's life and work. |
Jobriath remained an enigma for years, rarely cited in the rock press and not even mentioned in Jerry Brandt's autobiography. With the recent acceptance of gay-related themes in mainstream culture, a spate of Jobriath fan-sites have sprung up. Long-lost video footage was recently featured on the VH-1 special From Below the Waist: Men, Women and Music. His life provided partial inspiration for the film Velvet Goldmine, and Morrissey, a longtime fan, has recently released Lonely Planet Boy, a 15-song compilation of Jobriath's two LPs, on his own Attack imprint (a division of Sanctuary Records). Morrissey himself wrote a brief introduction to the record, for which Robert Cochrane penned the mini-bio. It’s been alleged that Morrissey wanted Jobriath to open his 1992 tour, only to discover he had passed away ten years earlier. Appropriately, a record release party for Lonely Planet Boy was held in the Chelsea Hotel's basement bar. |

From Wikipedia:
Elvis lives? (My note: see how lives is an anagram for elvis?) Two main reasons are given in support of the belief that Presley faked his death: On his grave, his middle name Aron is misspelled. The double 'A' was removed after his twin brother Jesse Garon was stillborn, Presley's parents went to great lengths to have it changed on the official birth certificate.[citation needed] "Hours after Presley's death was announced, a man by the name of Jon Burrows (Presley's traveling alias) purchased a one way ticket with cash to Buenos Aires."[88] Two national tabloid newspapers, the Weekly World News and The Sun, ran articles covering the continuing "life" of Elvis Presley after his death, in great detail, including a broken leg from a motorcycle accident, all they way up to his purported "real death" in the mid 1990s.[citation needed] However, since his "real death", the Weekly World News has continued to claim he is still alive, thus contradicting its initial story. |
Ian Curtis hanged himself in his kitchen while, supposedly, listening to Iggy Pop's The Idiot.
"The effects of his epilepsy and personal problems, such as an impending divorce from his wife, may have contributed to Curtis' suicide by hanging at the age of 23. According to the book, Touching From A Distance, Curtis had taken an overdose of his epilepsy medication and ended up in hospital only a few months before his death. The overdose was believed to be a 'cry for help' but Curtis himself was said to have told his bandmates that he hadn't meant to overdose." (wikipedia) Elliott Smith (i thought it was because something to do with his girlfriend...) "The singer battled with depression, alcohol addiction and drug use for many years, and the topics would often appear in his lyrics. Smith died in 2003, aged 34, from two apparently self-inflicted stab wounds to the chest. However, as of 2006, the evidence surrounding his death remains inconclusive." |
Per Yngve Ohlin - AKA "Dead" (January 16, 1969 – April 8, 1991) - vocalist for Norwegian black metallers Mayhem.
![]() On April 8, 1991, a fellow Mayhem band member, Øystein 'Euronymous' Aarseth, found Dead dead, with slit wrists, and a shotgun wound to the head. The suicide note that was found with his corpse simply read "Excuse all the blood" (Hellhammer later elaborated that the note was a bit more detailed, including apologies for having to use the shotgun inside the house but the knife was just too dull to finish the job). Euronymous then ran off and bought a disposable camera and took pictures of the grisly scene. Aarseth was also said to have eaten parts of Dead's brain, and to have made necklaces out of fragments of his skull. The necklace was later stolen while on tour. It is also rumoured that pieces of his skull were mailed out to bands that Aarseth saw as "worthy", such as the Swiss band Samael. |
