I agree, one of the few CDs where I truly do like all of the songs. I really don't think I'll be too disappointed with the results.

I thought so too at first, since I've always seen it as an interlude, but it seems to be pretty popular. I think it will probably last a while.

i still don't get how this is considered their "masterpiece", most songs suck and the production is disgusting. the only good songs are:

-providence
-cross the breeze
-sprawl (the last two songs) because of the instrumental work at the end of each)
-candle
-the wonder
-total trash

silver rocket and eric's trip get special mentions because they are titanically amazing live, but the studio versions suck.

EDIT::actually, i know why it's considered their best album: it's their poppiest indie album, it's a double lp and critics jack off to it.

providence is great!!! its an excerpt from mike watts recording of thurston and his own phone answering machines. the full track is nearly an hour long. dunno where or even if u can get it...
if i have to vote one off it would have to be the sprawl. still a great song but not as great as the others......
