i don't know if this is real or a joke because it is too dumb. im thinking of calling my band Mothers Against Noise (we are very noisy, borderline "noise" music even!)

i think it was here (the old board maybe) or ilovemusic where it was all debunked and it turns out andrew w.k. was behind it. oh well. it's a marvelous website either way.

there is still disagreement on whether its real or not.

according to john olsen and aaron dilloway they have both seen them in person and some showed up at no fun fest to drop off some literature but quickly left. aaron dilloway is quoted as talking to thurston about it.

but anyone familiar with andrew wks career wouldnt be surprised in he in involved in yet more mazes of confusion.

yeah, i've heard that there are two groups called "mothers against noise". one's a total sham, headed by andrew wk, and the other is an actual organization trying to put an end to that god awful noise genre.

to my understanding, there originally was a ghetto geocities website which i remember right when this hype started, then it got so huge that that cheapy little geocities account couldnt handle the bandwidth, so the site was often down. then someone offered webhosting and a domain, the mother gratefully oblidged, turns out the people with the webhosting and domain hijack the site and turn it into their own, which is now mothersagainstnoise.com, mothersagainstnoise.org. these were registered under universal, which leads to the suspicion to a TLASILA connection.

then the real mothers moved to mothersagainstnoise.us, where they reside today.

so the one i linked is the real one.

That website doesn't look real at all, IMO...I enjoy the humor in it, but I don't buy it.

look deeper, this thread has appeared and reappeared several times, it is a label with good viral marketing

I guess organizations like this one highlight just how paranoid people are these days. Noisy music never made me slaughter a neighbour's cat. If your kid is doing this shit, he/she has other problems that need attention.

I'm not into straight up "noise" (I believe you can use noise in music, but not as music), but if this is true (doubtful) what a bunch of timewasters.
