The Cure Remasters

Just picked up Kiss Me x 3, Head on the Door, The Top and Blue Sunshine expanded editions....wooo.

Sold back the originals, picked up The Shins, Oh Inverted World and Devendra Banhart Rejoicing in the Hands...

When the next batch of Cure remasters comes out, I probably won't sell back the originals...I like the foldout posters in Disintegration and Wild Mood Swings, and have an emotional attachment to my Wish CD....I don't really care about the Bloodflowers packaging though.

Any other hardcore Cure fans here?

Groove(Y) 08.14.2006 03:16 PM

the cure forever greatness....i have a giant poster promoting the new remasters and i don't even own them yet...really a shame...i think the first thing i'll buy (if i don't have enough $ for all that is) is get blue sunshine though...something totally new sounding...steve severin is great

krastian 08.14.2006 03:24 PM

The remasters are great. Pornography is fantastic.

I have the giant poster for the 3IB remaster. By the way, if you have the original CD, don't sell it...the remaster cuts out several seconds of talking and laughter included on the original.

I also have the original pressing of the 3IB remaster that is missing four pages of the booklet--at first it pissed me off but now I kind of like it.

Aside from the music on said album, sentences like these are probably the reason I love it so.

i absolutely cannot STAND The Top. what a boring album. i love the cure, and most of the things they have done.. but the Top is... ughhh.

Daycare Nation 08.14.2006 05:14 PM

Caterpillar, Birdmad Girl---> great songs...but yeah it is a fairly unremarkable release. The bonus disc for this has some great songs on it though.

Daycare Nation 08.14.2006 05:34 PM

Wow...Glove remaster.

Disc 2 is the whole album with Robert Smith singing it, and the versions are excellent.

Yes, but it's weird that the live tracks sound undoubtedly sped up (why haven't they been speed/pitch corrected ?).

PAULYBEE2656 08.15.2006 01:03 PM

pornography is by far their finest work

doesnt matter if we all die............
sums it up really!

He he.

CHOUT 08.15.2006 08:27 PM

Got the first batch of reissues, I'll have to pick these up.

Daycare Nation 08.15.2006 10:12 PM

Damn...I just read a review that pointed out that the drum roll at the beginning of The Top was slightly clipped out of the remaster. Now I've had to order the original version again, which I just sold back.

Why can't they pay more attention when they do these things? And why did that reviewer have to point that shit out!? I would never have noticed and now my enjoyment is forever ruined.

ohfuchsia 08.16.2006 05:04 AM

Anyone in australia having trouble getting these? I asked at JB hifi and they were absolutley no help.
i love the top, what about give me it? that's the best.

lovesonicevol 08.16.2006 04:33 PM

I really want these! I cant wait for the Top.

Blandkind 08.17.2006 06:06 AM

Picked them up last friday. Blue sunshine is brilliant. Im listening to disc 2 more though with roberts versions. All the booklets are really well done like the previous 4.

Did you get the 3IB booklet that is missing 4 pages, or the second issue?

how many pages are supposed to be in it? I have 3ibRe but I didn't anything of the such on missing pages?

DemonBox 08.18.2006 04:06 PM

I love Pornography and Boys Don't Cry. The Cure is a fine band.

atari 2600 08.18.2006 07:06 PM

A top three for me is Pornography, Disintegration & Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me.

It's supposed to have 20 pages...the first batch only had 16.

I got my copy of the old Top in the mail today....and yep, the drumroll at the beginning is cut out partly in the remaster....Bananafishbones is also a different speed. Apparently it was on the wrong speed when they mastered the original release.

m^a(t)h 08.18.2006 08:57 PM

if anyone gets a chance buy or download "mixed". Its a bunch of remixes of their songs by them and they are fucking great. my favorite cure album!

Daycare Nation 08.18.2006 09:04 PM

You mean Mixed Up? I have a wall poster of that album. I made my own sequel called Mixeder Upper.

Daycare Nation 08.19.2006 12:47 AM

I'm listening to The Cure right now...

over and over we die, one after the other

The Cure to Release Three-Disc Remastered Disintegration Reissue

Keeping It Simple 04.01.2010 04:05 PM

I still can't believe The Cure are a West Sussex band. I live in a town down the road from Crawley, where the band originated.

batreleaser 04.01.2010 05:53 PM

I like "Faith" the best.

radarmaker 04.01.2010 06:06 PM

It's all about Seventeen Seconds.

jetengine 05.18.2010 09:35 AM

I lost touch with The Cure from Wild Mood Swings Onward. Bloodflowers was the last album I picked up by them, and that was a decade ago.

dionysusundone 05.18.2010 06:12 PM

You haven't missed much. The self-titled was a mess. The last one had some redeeming moments but the misses outnumbered the hits by a pretty vast ratio.

Jeremy 05.19.2010 12:31 PM

Their self-titled record had some decent stuff but wasn't anything special. Their most recent one I liked even less.

Disintegration though is a masterpiece so I've been waiting for this deluxe edition for a long time.

deflinus 05.19.2010 02:24 PM

bloodflowers is disgustingly underrated

Jeremy 05.19.2010 07:39 PM

I agree. Probably my favorite behind Disintegration and Pornography.

~Jeremy~

noisereductions 05.19.2010 08:51 PM

Bloodflowers was great.

but the Cure is dead.
