The White Strpies Love them or hate them?

I personally like them especially the album De Stijl

acousticrock87 08.21.2006 12:13 AM

Assuming yes means I like them, yes.

aaronalive 08.21.2006 12:34 AM

they're nothing past "Ok"

golden child 08.21.2006 01:00 AM

Exactly how I feel about them.

Hip Priest 08.21.2006 08:01 AM

They're OK. I'm never going to buy one of their records, but I don't feel the need to turn over when they come on either. It did irritate me that the press decided their third LP made them 'best newcomers', however that works, but that isn't their fault.

sonicl 08.21.2006 08:10 AM

They're okay. I'd buy a "best of" but probably nothing else.

finding nobody 08.21.2006 11:16 AM

One of my favorite bands sense 7th grade

DemonBox 08.21.2006 11:45 AM

I love them. I got a softspot for the first album, but I like the others as well. But it's like alcohol, They are like a drink that's good every once in a while, but if you drink it to much you get sick.

White Stripes = Martini

Sonic Youth = Beer

Everyneurotic 08.21.2006 11:47 AM

i like "hotel yorba", that's it.

Pookie 08.21.2006 11:49 AM

They're pretty innofensive. I feel strangely attracted to the drummer though (don't know her name).

porkmarras 08.21.2006 11:50 AM

I'm managing to stay alive with barely aknowledging their existence.

Yep, me too. Meg is her name

nicfit 08.21.2006 11:56 AM

it's coz she never talks, girls who do not talk are attractive.
edit : on the other side, some girls became attractive when they talk...

acousticrock87 08.21.2006 02:04 PM

It's a pity when a beautiful girl turns out to be an intolerable when she starts talking. But being deceived is even worse, so she might as well get it over with.

Alex's Trip 08.21.2006 02:08 PM

Meg is pretty good lookin'. I saw them at Street Scene '05. They put on a really good show. I like the Stripes. They are one of many of the 'THE' bands that I first listened to when I first started becoming a music fan.
Picture that I took

Glice 08.21.2006 02:45 PM

She's one of the better drummers at the moment... not in her technical ability, but in her actual playing. I can't stand that man's voice though. I want to hurt him, hurt him bad.

I find them offensive mainly because Peel used to play loads and loads of that sort of thing, and none of it ever troubled the general consciousness, and I really don't get what's so special about them.

defcon4 08.21.2006 04:08 PM

For mainstream they're excellent. Against any other standard they're merely pretty good.

Cantankerous 08.21.2006 04:11 PM

I can't stand them. Meg is cute, though.

k-krack 08.21.2006 04:18 PM

i agree with meg being attractive for whatever reason. i loved every album up until that filth they call get behind me satan. what a load of crap that was, except for The Nurse and Blue Orchid. De Stijl is a fantastic album.

meg is probably one of the worst drummers, and i hope the white stripes don't make another album, (they can only go downhill from here, and the raconteurs are pretty rockin' now. and the drummer in the raconteurs has some talent on drums other than just... utter shit.)

I think Get Behind Me Satan was a fucking brilliant album. They seem more inspired than ever. They had to progress in some way, if they went to make a WBC or Elephant II, it would have been a total bore. I'm glad they mixed up the formula a bit, and made one of the best "mainstream" albums in 2005.

acousticrock87 08.21.2006 05:39 PM

Yeah I thought Get Behind Me was a really good move. I liked it a lot. Though I agree with k that The Nurse and Blue Orchid were definitely the best songs. Take Take Take was really good, too.

I got very bored with Blue Orchid. But yeah, The Nurse, Take, Take, Take, and Red Rain where among the best.

acousticrock87 08.21.2006 05:44 PM

I actually got bored with Red Rain because I used it to practice slide guitar so much that I can't listen to it anymore. But it was a great song prior to that; almost mentioned it.

Cantankerous 08.21.2006 05:50 PM

oh i do have to say though that i like that doorbell song.

Trasher02 08.21.2006 05:54 PM

Meg's hot.
Jack is cool.
Jack also has a fuckin fantastic voice.
Nice and simple songs.

And someone I can't seem to get into the white stripes :(

Cantankerous 08.21.2006 08:43 PM

jack does have a nice voice.

k-krack 08.21.2006 08:55 PM

i liked the stripes how they were (not attempting to be country). there "garage rock revival" days were much better......

fishmonkey 08.22.2006 09:27 AM

I saw them live to, they were awsome. Someone said that they sucked live, but that was pure bullshit. Did they play Bang, Bang when you saw them?

LittlePuppetBoy 08.22.2006 03:34 PM

I can dig them.

Signpost 08.23.2006 05:30 AM

I don't care about them.

kingcoffee 08.23.2006 10:52 AM

Although the White Stripes aren't immensely talented they put out great material. It's pretty basic rock but it feels so refreshing compared to the rest of the shit in the pop music scene right now. Jack White is a great guitarist and Meg is a competant drummer. She may not be Keith Moon but she fulfills her duties in the band (and she's cute, too). The White Stripes are by far one of my more favorite mainstream acts. They're pretty much the only mainstream rock band that I listen to because they don't conform to modern musical fads. Just good ol' fashioned hard blues/garage rock. Excellent group.

porkmarras 08.23.2006 10:57 AM

I honestly think that if they weren't around nobody would have been half-arsed to even think of inventing them.
