there are many music related gawp fests that i have been involved in. it should really be an alchohol question.

once i attended a gig(i won't give away the name of the band,just in case they read this...),and i was totally flirting with this wonderful girl for a while,after the show the drummer came down the stage to chat with me(i attended a lot of their show on that tour and we became "friends" to a certain extent)while i was sitting at a table with that girl,and he was happy and smiling and the first thing he said "oh,i didn't know you knew my girlfriend!" i'm sure he didn't suspect anything,he even bought me like 5 vodkas,but it was embarassing as hell,at least till the 3rd vodka.

first few gigs i played, drunken sprawls that they were. while it was fun looking back i think, oh shit!

I'm banned from a venue for attacks its ceiling.

I've also made a complete dong of myself in front of several bands, but that's all part of the fun of rock n' roll.

dancing is always a music related redness with embarassment afterwards causing thing. i think i am ok, then usually fall over or get my feet stood on.

There have been a few times where I've talk to indie rock gods and just acted really flaky and dorky.

somebody once fell on my head whille crowd surfing (i spaced out and didn't put up my hands) at a show and i fell and couldn't get up. i finally did but then i jsut looked crazy.

i got thrown out of a Giant Drag gig in 2004 for drinking under the legal age.

i have actually also been thrown out of a club for drinking but i wasn't embarassed.

At a Yeah Yeah Yeah's gig in 2003 my this guy was croud surfing and my friend got her head stuck between his legs, it was so funny. People kept pushing him forward to get him to the front and she kept getting hit in the face with his crotch. ha ha ha ha ha ha

1. Opening for a couple of favorite bands and sucking.

2. Accidentally putting salt instead of sugar (my friend kept both in identical unlabelled bulk containers) in a glass of absinthe that I then served to Kawabata. I found out about this mistake a week after the fact.

Yeah, when he comes to town and my friend Dave says hello, he says "Oh yes! Absinthe!"

you should make him another one with twice as much salt, just to see how he reacts.

Politeness. Plus he'd never had it before, so one of the other folks told him what was wrong after they tasted it.
I had left shortly before that point, and heard about it later.

once with my former band, we were about to start playing at a huge backyard show, in front of like 200 people, and just as i was greeting the crowd "hey everybody, we're milck, blah blah" my cell phone started ringing, i fucking froze and just ignored it and started the first song...i should have answered it.


when i saw dinosaur jr last year in central park, a guy went running onstage to stagedive and he jumped right where i was standing (smack in the front of j) so i had to make this awkward sideways duck so he wouldn't nail my face with his boot; kim, steve and thurston were watching the show from the side and were laughing about the guy and the commotion, looking my way...it wasn't embarrasing, it was awkward.

but i do have a ramones shirt (you guessed it, the presidential seal one) and i wore a couple of times...i'm just glad i never bought a misfits or a motörhead shirt.

I had a drunken, one-way conversation with Henry Rollins once. I went up to him and punched him playfully on the shoulder.

I have no idea what I said to him, I just woke up the next morning just knowing that I'd said something really stupid.

I drunkenly dozed off at a concert at which Loop had played support and woke up to find that I'd been using Robert Hampson's shoulder as a pillow.

i met and told Neil Hannon of irish band "the divine comedy" to suck my balls.

Incidentally, earlier in the day, I'd gone to a book signing he was doing (he signed the book 'old man Rollins in book signing hell') and after he'd signed I said, 'Thank you very much'. He did a double take. Probably not used to such politeness.

I'm intrigued to know whether I was at the same show, as I used to go and see Rollins Band fairly frequently. Where and when was it, twin bro'?

He struck me as a nice chap that Neil Hannon.Do you happen to like early Divine comedy by any chance?

I did go and see Rollins Band a few times, but this was one of his spoken word shows. It must have been about 1989/90 ish.

One of my favourite gigs was Rollins Band supported by Beastie Boys. It was after the Beasties released Check Your Head and they were probably at their lowest in terms of poularity.

Check Your Head, incidentally, is one of the most criminally neglected and underrated albums ever.

I think I saw three of his spoken word shows, one at The Half Moon at Putney, shortly after Joe Cole got shot, one at the Astoria (it was the day after his birthday, but I can't remember which birthday) and one in Portsmouth.

My fave Rollins Band show would be either supporting Nick Cave at the T&C, or a show at the club under the Westway, the name of which has slipped my mind, or at the Marquee. It's difficult to choose.

And I would just like to say that I have never neglected, nor underrated, Check Your Head in my life.
