Doing anything nice this weekend?

I'm going to the Emsworth Food Festival, in the village where I spent my teenage and twentysomething years. Pretty much the whole village gets taken over by stalls selling foods from around the world and, being a bit of a foodie, I will be in my element.

"Without doubt Emsworth is the south coast’s best kept culinary secret. This historic, picturesque, old fishing village set on the beautiful Chichester Harbour between Portsmouth and Chichester probably has more quality restaurants and public houses, not to mention independent food retailers, per square mile than any other comparable village in England.

It is thus the perfect setting for what has now become the region’s leading Food Festival. Taking place over three days of a weekend in September each year, this is an event that no food lover could fail to enjoy. Whether it’s fresh oysters on the fishing quay, lunch or dinner in one of the village’s restaurants, or purely strolling through.

With he Festival’s one hundred or so food related stalls, this is THE Food Festival that you really should not miss.

Now in its sixth year, the Emsworth Food Festiva is now the UK's largest independent food festivall, with over 50,000 visitors in 2005. Run entirely by volunteers and supported by the business and residents of Emsworth the 2006 festival with a strong emphasis on quality and variety will be a must for food lovers."

On sunday it's 'open monumenten dag', which is a contest in which the winning monument get's restored for a new purpose. The monument in Hasselt will screen loads of material I taped for Zaal Belgie (Dramarama, Fat Cat Night) and also a partly screening of my MIX DVD.

Pookie 09.08.2006 09:10 AM

I'm working on Saturday as usual, then spending Sunday looking at wedding venues before helping move a neighbour's fridge and sofa in the afternoon.

Oh, it doesn't get any better than this.

sonicl 09.08.2006 09:12 AM

Wedding? Wedding? Are we all invited?

We won't embarrass you, honest.

Pookie 09.08.2006 09:14 AM

Yes, EVERYBODY'S invited.

HaydenAsche 09.08.2006 09:16 AM

HaydenAsche 09.08.2006 09:39 AM

Eek. No plans have arised. I'm going to my high school's football game tonight I guess and I'm going to the cities after that.

Inhuman 09.08.2006 09:42 AM

Going on a date tonight! She likes dashboard confessional, so I told her that I'd take her to go see Bell Orchestre tonight, but I don't know how she's going to react. But if I get her music taste just as good as the inside of her pants...:p

Saturday I'm having a jam session, but sunday I'm taking my stepdad golfing, which reeks.

jon boy 09.08.2006 12:42 PM

tonight going out for a few drinks and maybe a club, then tomorow going to see the sunburned hand of the man again.

Hip Priest 09.08.2006 02:25 PM

We've been doing nice stuff all week, as we've been off work. Today it was the Anderton Boat Lift.

Tomorrow we're off to Manchester for the day, which will be super.

gmku 09.08.2006 03:08 PM

Mexican food dinner out tonight with a couple friends. That's nice.

nomadicfollower 09.08.2006 03:34 PM

Sadly, no.
A bowl and The Pod will do me well, I guess.

gmku 09.08.2006 03:55 PM

Bowl of soup? Poor man...

nomadicfollower 09.08.2006 04:00 PM

Chicken broth too. It can't even truly be considered soup.
It's sad. It really is.

porkmarras 09.08.2006 04:03 PM

Chatting to you twats for the time being.

static-harmony 09.08.2006 04:03 PM

Doing Pizza for breakfast, pancakes for lunch, and pizza for dinner again.

HaydenAsche 09.08.2006 11:38 PM

I went to a school sponsored sporting event.

I did it in true hipster spirit though and showed up at half time so trashed I could barely talk and almost got in a fight with some kid in a Scary Kids Scaring Kids shirt.

cosmokramer 09.09.2006 03:25 AM

went to an outdoor projection showing of Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure.
it was pretty cool

Savage Clone 09.09.2006 11:14 AM

They sounds nice, can we come (by 'we' I mean my family, not everybody on the board)?

Savage Clone 09.09.2006 11:17 AM

Only if you promise to have everyone over for apple pie and a spirited three-legged race in your back yard afterwards.

That's a nice thing to be famous for. I don't know if it's still there, but at Oldham train station there used to be a huge sign that said 'Oldham - Home of the Tubular Bandage'.

What she said. Except I didn't have to travel to Chicago.

Alex's Trip 09.10.2006 02:25 AM

I had a really good day, today.

I went to my friends house today. We (my friend, another friend and I) all watched The Squid and the Whale and The Virgin Sucides. Then we talked for awhile, and their friend, Paul, came over and he was cool. Then we decided that we wanted cake. We drove over to the grocery store, bought some cake and some forks and ate it outside the store. It was really fun.

Oh I've been there! My parents took me there before. It was fun for a while, but my advice to you is don't take them once they turn about 11. That was the last time I remember going, and I really didn't like it anymore. I guess I just outgrew it. But it was fun when I was younger.

Gulasch Noir 09.10.2006 12:25 PM

I watched Videos on Youtube with a friend till 8am and it was fucking great. Things like Mr. Vain, Fade to gray, Scatman, 74'-75', and much from the wonderful genre Eurodance. I love this stuff and would probably have punched someone's mug, if he encountered me on my drunk way home at 8:30am and telling me, that he also likes this stuff from time to time, but out of a more "ironic" reason. Argh.

Everyneurotic 09.10.2006 12:31 PM

"what is love?/baby don't hurt me/don't hurt me/no more..."

i love that shit!! reminds me of being 12/13 going to afternoon parties and bar mitzvahs.

Gulasch Noir 09.10.2006 12:33 PM

yes, also this one! Of course the melancholy component is most likely important too. Just saw Inside by Stiltskin on MTV and loved it.

Everyneurotic 09.10.2006 12:37 PM

i haven't seen eurodance videos in years, there were some compilations released here recently called "i love dance" and they were chock full of those songs...i'll probably end up buying one or something.

"i know what i want and i want it now/i want you 'cause i'm mr. vain"

golden child 09.10.2006 09:53 PM

kissing some drunk girl, going to hardcore shows, bought some black metal cd, got copies of my new cd, playing on the radio tommorow.

gmku 09.11.2006 09:19 AM

Saturday I pulled out two Juniper shrubs, root balls and all, then planted three boxwoods and a barberry. It took four hours. I was so tired that I fell asleep on the couch at 6pm without dinner and didn't wake up until 9 the next morning.

pokkeherrie 09.11.2006 09:29 AM

i ran 10 kilometers in some running event yesterday. i hadn't practiced much at all so i was surprised to find myself actually finishing it. today i can barely walk but that's ok.

gmku 09.11.2006 09:39 AM

I also got a haircut, bought groceries, did laundry, listened to records, watched the telly, and drank a couple of beers.
