Toilet & Bowels 09.27.2006 08:47 AM

have you heard that joe lally record?

sonicl 09.27.2006 08:49 AM

No, just saw it listed at secondlayer.co.uk.

Toilet & Bowels 09.27.2006 08:51 AM

cheers L

gmku 09.27.2006 08:57 AM

I'm on the fence about the Evens. Too laid back. Where's the sound and fury of Fugazi, man?

Everyneurotic 09.27.2006 08:58 AM

yeah, really looking forward for both, i thought the evens would suck but i really dig them and that joe lally album is all fucking star.

did you know the new evens albums was recorded on the basement of dischord house where minor threat used to rehearse?

in fugazi's records,perhaps?stupid question.
why search for the same things in an evidently different band with totally different set up?

gmku 09.27.2006 10:48 AM

^True. I just miss Fugazi. I guess the Evens doesn't speak to me yet.

nicfit 09.27.2006 10:55 AM

yeah,i understood.that's why i said "stupid question" and not "you are stupid" ;)

gmku 09.27.2006 12:12 PM

I know. And believe me, I'm not afraid to ask stupid questions.

SpectralJulianIsNotDead 09.27.2006 01:15 PM

I didn't like the first Evens record. It was like a really weak version of the Argument to me. When I first saw them i liked all the songs, but when I listened to the record, the songs sort of grew off as opposed to grew on.

I really want Guy to start a new band. He's the man you know.

Gulasch Noir 09.27.2006 03:23 PM

Actually I like the Evens Record more, than any other Fugazi albums I heard. From what I have heard from Fugazi, I think you can't really compare them, though.

i miss minor threat and they are never getting back together, and i'm still waiting for fugazi to speak to me the same way minor threat does but it's never going to happen.

Forensic Scene 09.27.2006 03:49 PM

yeah anyone have any news about Guy? ANybody run a fanzine? because if you do you should set up an interview.

guy is producing, brendan is also producing but still plays drums.

SpectralJulianIsNotDead 09.27.2006 10:08 PM

Some guy posted a whole Rites of Spring show on youtube, as well as a video of Happy Go Licky live. I hope he posts more Happy Go Licky live stuff.

Everyneurotic 09.27.2006 10:17 PM

i'm so going on youtube soon!!

Pax Americana 09.27.2006 10:40 PM

New Evens, I'll have to check that out. I liked the first one a lot.

Fugazi really need to get together and record again.

krastian 09.27.2006 11:38 PM

I thought the first Evens record was pretty good even though at times I thought I was listening to the same song over and over. I'm pretty pumped to hear both.....especially to hear what Joe has up his sleeve.

Everyneurotic 09.28.2006 12:25 AM

didn't anybody here check out decahedron? the album they put out was awesome, it's a shame they couldn't stay together.

krastian 09.28.2006 12:29 AM

I still need to check them out.

SpectralJulianIsNotDead 09.28.2006 12:35 AM

Hey, speaking of fugazi, I was trying to figure out the chords to "Do You Like Me?"

Anyone want to double check me?

First clunky intro part:
Bb B clunka clunka
B clunka cluncka clunk Bb Bb D

Pre verse
B B chicka chicka B B chicka chicka B B chicka chicka F (high)
Verse
B F(high)
pre-Chorus
B F (low)
Chorus:
B Bb D

Solo: tremolo pick notes F# F G G#
the other part: too lazy right now

I've got a Question
B Bb
B F high
B F low

That is as close as I can get

krastian 09.28.2006 12:40 AM

I would if I could, but I can't.

Tuff loss for the Buccos tonight, eh?

SpectralJulianIsNotDead 09.28.2006 01:13 AM

Meh. Buccos. I don't watch bassball. Only football and hockey. I realized the Buccos were going nowhere when I was 5 and quickly became a Cleveland Indians fan. Then slowly after watching the Indians do awesome and then get worse, I lost interest.

I'm a bad fan, I like teams when they are doing good. I haven't watched many Pens games at all since they stopped making the playoffs. It is just depressing.

I'm really hoping the Pens can get some support in building a new arena and can stay in Pittsburgh. They have a young team with a lot a good young goalie and good ammount of offensive power. Sydney Crosby is a real playmaker, he makes everyone on his line better and Malkin is supposed to be better than that. The Pens have some good defensemen too.

krastian 09.28.2006 01:18 AM

Yeah I remember you saying you weren't a fan.....I was just joshin' ya.

The only other team that I loathe more than the Penguins are the Yankees.....Go Caps!;)

That is understandable. It seemed for awhile like the Pens were always getting matched up first or 2nd round with the caps and would knock em out.

I'm disappointed the Penguins dropped Tomas Surovi, I thought he was doing pretty good with Crosby last year.

krastian 09.28.2006 01:35 AM

He he.

SpectralJulianIsNotDead 09.28.2006 01:52 AM

That was last year. Let's see what happens this year.

drrrtyboots 09.28.2006 02:18 PM

Fugazi, come back to us.

if you can't see me ballin' then you need motherfuckin glasses

Forensic Scene 09.28.2006 02:53 PM

Guy needs to not just produce, but to play...

We had a better record by a few games, but you guys actually beat us in the head to head series.....even in DC. I was pissed to say the least.

Here's an interview from April 2006 :

http://www.plagij.at/more.php?id=957

Another rather recent one :

Personally I've seen Guy play some new songs he had written last year in Belgium, it was really surprising seeing play solo I quite liked it , (he also played with Tom Verlaine, and The Ex during that festival curated by Jem Cohen) he's been also working with Edie Janney from Rites of spring (one or two songs were actually released on a compilation for a magazine earlier this year) , he has also played with an improvisionnal music band called International Silence two years ago or so...He just had a daughter so I don't think he'll be ready to go on tour and play as a musician that much in the near future. He also worked on Vic Chesnutt's upcoming (I think ?) album along side with A Silver Mt Zion.

sonicl 11.29.2006 02:31 AM

Thanks Mental Ray. That's a splendid first post, I hope we'll hear more from you.

Hey, who's 4th in the league in scoring right now? Is it Ovechkin? Is that who it is?

krastian 11.30.2006 12:06 AM

^It's early....it's all good. Ovechkin has more goals....Crosby gets all his points on assists (yawn):p
