It's time for me to buy some albums
can you recommend for me?
ummm these days i'm looking for dinosour jr's albums..

sonik death 10.06.2006 08:44 AM

Are you only looking for Dinosaur records? They're not hard to find, are they?

Anyway, if you haven't got this, get it:

J. Mascis & The Fog 'More Light', the title track is totally amazing, might listen to it now actually...

Everyneurotic 10.06.2006 08:53 AM

fuck dinosaur jr

get anathema, decaer pinga and the new genghis tron album

_slavo_ 10.06.2006 09:16 AM

No, fuck you mother fucker!

Dinosaur are way cool.:fuckyou:

gmku 10.06.2006 09:32 AM

Anybody into Black Sabbath? I've been seeing some nice new reissues on vinyl of Paranoid. But I'm pretty unfamiliar with them, aside from "Iron Man." Any opinions?

Everyneurotic 10.06.2006 09:36 AM

anathema=sweet awesomeness, they write better songs than most bands...and they are almost not metal.

if you need a thread to ask which dino jr album to buy, that's what you get; it's stupid to ask, if you like them, buy any of their albums. i was giving some advise on headier territory.

ps: talking about metal dinosaurs on a thread about a band called "dinosaur" who are fans of venom and motörhead and whose lead singer has a side band that's heavily influenced by black sabbath? tsk tsk tsk tsk.

Savage Clone 10.06.2006 09:37 AM

Get the first Sabbath LP.
It has been reissued as a 180g; not sure how available it is anymore.
Paranoid, Master of Reality and the S/T are my favorites, but the S/T one slays them all.
I also like Volume 4 a lot, but the production sounds too thin for Sabbath.

*yawn*

I agree with Every-n. Skip the Dinosaur.

The following albums are fantastic:
the Decemberists - Crane Wife
Treewave - Cabana EP
mewithoutYou - Brother, Sister
Devo - Q: Are We Not Men?
Yellow Swans - Bring The Neon War Home

Those are just a few I've been playing alot lately.

Everyneurotic 10.06.2006 09:41 AM

vol. 4 is tits, but the black box remastered version sounds better than the regular...in fact, if don't mind not having vinyl, you need that box.

gmku 10.06.2006 09:41 AM

Great Devo album ^

_slavo_ 10.06.2006 10:03 AM

get this:

a hell of a record, a hell of a band

Fox 10.06.2006 10:03 AM

If you don't have it, you should get You're Living All Over Me...

HaydenAsche 10.06.2006 10:04 AM

Slavo, what band is that?

That's a total ASMZ album name.

Rob Instigator 10.06.2006 10:05 AM

Black Sabbath are GOD

Paranoid is a great album, the self titled debut is a fantastic album. Volume 4 isfantastic. Master s of Reality also. those are my faves.
heavy heavy great stuff

fave sabbath songs

supernaut
snowblind
children of the GRAVE
paranoid
fairies wear boots
sabbath bloody sabbath
etc etc

the new dinosaur re-issues are available. those are good things. Dinosaur rules all.

Savage Clone 10.06.2006 10:07 AM

Sabbath Bloody Sabbath would totally rule if it wasn't for the super-lame shift into the major key for the "They just tell you that you're on your own" bit.

Totally ruins it. The bridge section slays though.

Rob Instigator 10.06.2006 10:07 AM

slavo, is that silver mt zion? I have several vinyls of silver mt zion.

as far as dinosaur jr goes get

yr living all over me
bug
green mind
whatever's cool with me
fossills

Rob Instigator 10.06.2006 10:09 AM

savage I love that part. it is so true! It needs that bit there for the truly megalithic heaviness in minor chords to strike at our demonic hearts.

they just tell you that you're on your own, fill yr head up full of lies, YOU BASTARDS!

Everyneurotic 10.06.2006 10:09 AM

the first six sabbath albums are perfect.

and i haven't gotten into a silver mount zion, i think they are very subpar compared to other gy!be offshoots.

Rob Instigator 10.06.2006 10:10 AM

children of the grave is so HEAVY

I thought I was the only person! Oh, Pork, we really are soulmates.

A friend and I are starting an electronic band like that. We've already got the synth program that was on the album on our commodore 64.

porkmarras 10.06.2006 10:38 AM

I generally love a big bunch of bands on that label and the big bonus is the care and craft that they put into the artwork.Exhaust are really phenomenal,i'm surprised that they don't sell more records than, say,GSYBE.

yumopal 10.06.2006 10:41 AM

I can't find treewave's albums in my country
shit

Well,if you like them is suppose you'd appreciate the electronic/shoegaze thing that Lali Puna came up with, then.Treewave i'm gobsmacked anyone would know because i bumped into them on some obscure blog and loved them.

HaydenAsche 10.06.2006 10:44 AM

I'm so obscure it hurts though, baby.

My friend and I have been wanting to do stuff with old computers for a long time and we visited atariage to get an old atari program and saw that they had cds. We checked out Treewave's myspace. It was intense.

blue sunlover 10.06.2006 11:12 AM

i'm trying to meeting them in 2006
it's far after since 'the devil''s death

what about 'cure for pain' ?

Rob Instigator 10.06.2006 11:48 AM

MORPHINE (mark sandman R.I.P.)

I fucking love Morphine. when i first got CURE FOR PAIN I just did not get it, you kniow? i listened to it over an dover and then one day it hit me, just slammed me in the skull. this was a genius album, genius music. slide bass, two saxophones, sometimes played at the same time, and drums. "low rock" mark sandman called it. I fucking loved it. I loved that they were a little older than your regular band and they sang about things that were a bit more complex than "I love you, let's rock" etc.

I recommend CURE FOR PAIN and YES and LIKE SWIMMING

Cure for pain got me through some shit. back in 1994.
