Favorite Sub Pop Artist of all time?
What is yours?
Mine is probably Sebadoh. I would say Mudhoney, but Sebadoh put out more albums that were better. |
im gonna go with the obvious and cliche answer: nirvana
|
mudhoney, without them sub pop wouldnt exist
|
Postal Service
Wolf Eyes |
Postal Service? Are they on Sub Pop?
|
Yes.
|
Love Sub Pop, but they've gone a bit soft. Postal Service??? Yikes. There's nothing wrong with Postal Service or liking them, but this is Sub Pop. I would've thought they'd be better than that.

Kinski, Michael Yonkers.

I would've though you're an idiot. |
the best subpop artists were
MELVINS MUDHONEY AFGHAN WHIGS ERIC'S TRIP |
Comets On Fire
|
Fuckin A!
I can't believe I forgot to mention them! |
sebadoh yea. Bakesale and bubble were awesome... harmacy and the 'doh.... eeeh *tugs collar*
were the vaselines on subpop? Becuz they kicked ass |
Man, the Afgahn Wigs weren't even that good. I'm really dissapointed in SubPop for taking money away from Mudhoney to give it to the Wigs. Besides, everyone knows that the best bands on SubPop were/are: Comets on Fire, David Cross(he's a funny motherfucker), Dwarves, Eric's Trip, The Fastbacks, Fluid, Green River, Jesus and Mary Chain, L7, Mark Lanegan, Love Battery, Monkeywrench, Mudhoney, Radio Birdman, Seaweed, Sebadoh, The Shins, Sleater-Kinney, SOUNDGARDEN, the Supersuckers and Tad
|
i love the trolls
they were going to put a 7" on sub pop when i saw them open for hüsker dü in '84 |
I hated Eric's Trip.
Fluid's GLUE was the shit! |
afghan whigs = way overrated
|
I dont consider nirvana subpop really, just one record. But sounddgarden's subpop release was pretty good. Some Velvet Sidewalk was decent. Were the minutemen on subpop?

Beat Happening.

YES their record has renewed sub pop's credibility as of recent years. Blue Cathedral sends my mind spinning. |
That is one hell of a record. They make such wonderful music. It's a shame that Comets on Fire aren't more well known either. I'd like to see videos for them on tv and hear their songs on the radio instead of all the crap that has been popular for the past ten years. But then again, knowing about these smaller indie bands makes you feel like yr part of a secret society that knows something great that nobody else does.
|
Comets on Fire are pretty big here in LA. That album's pretty good.

wow, huh. |
Does anybody remember that one book about Sub Pop bands (maybe not exclusively) that came with a cd that had a bunch of bands on it? My friends and I would steal the cd from the back when we were in like 7th grade....he he.
|
Comets on Fire, Mudhoney, Sebadoh, Wolfeyes, Earth......
and the Melvins were never on sub pop.... |
Negatory!
|
I really like that new band: Band of Horses. Does Nirvana count? if not, then the Shins. sleater kinney is tight too.
|
the spice girls were the best band on sub pop
their split with hanson was awesome!!! |

Was it called "Screaming Life"? |
Yep that was it!!!
|
I probably have one of the cds that came with it SOMEWHERE. I'd like to have the book too. I remember the photography was pretty great but I never wanted to put down the cash to actually buy it back then. I think it was kind of expensive.
![]() Wow, seeing that eye kind of takes me back. |
Awesome....I was looking there too. One guy is selling it for 50 bucks!
|
Kinski
Mudhoney Melvins |
The Walkabouts - Hippies with loud guitars. Their "Satisfied Mind" covers album is a truly wonderful thing.
|
