Jeff Buckle's Sketches For My Sweetheart the Drunk...

I just got recently into this album. I've had Grace for a couple of years. It's a good album, but half of it is just covers (though fucking amazing one's). Sweetheart sounds like Jeff finally developing his own thing. I just love 'the Sky is a landifill', 'Nightmares by the Seaside' and 'Vancouver'. Shit, if this were only the demos, then I could only imagine how good the real thing would have been. The second disc is good too, it definetely has that indie lo-fi ironic vibe which is cool considering how serious/earnest most of Jeff's stuff was.

CHOUT 04.11.2006 05:44 PM

I prefer it much more than Grace. Lotsa good songs!

SpectralJulianIsNotDead 04.11.2006 07:02 PM

I agree. Great album. Nightmares by the Sea is killer, as well as his cover of Yard of Blonde Girls. Also has a lot more experimental stuff than Grace. That said, So Real off of Grace is an amazing song.

Yeah...for the record, I really don't have a proverbial left nut. Or a right one.

Toilet & Bowels 04.11.2006 08:58 PM

They ARE cute. They're all slim & dainty. But they cost the same as a 20-pack does here.

Toilet & Bowels 04.11.2006 09:56 PM

yes, cigs are unreasonably priced in the UK

truncated 04.11.2006 10:28 PM

I buy them in the airport when I go over, they're dirt cheap.

Wow, this thread got off topic pretty fast. All I know is that Jeff Buckley swam into the mississippi with boots and jeans on singing whole lot of love. He was pretty bad-ass.

Yeah, my uncle does that too, and he's had a plate in his head since '69.

i think you're confusing bad assedness with stupidity.

He was also extremely unprofessional in his dealings with one of my friends.

really, how so?

Savage Clone 04.12.2006 11:47 AM

His label insisted on him doing an in-store (unsolicited by the store), took out a huge ad, tons of hype, tons of people at the store (this was to be signing only; no live set).
He blew it off at the last second due to sheer laziness.
Nice.
