Husker Du's best album

I don't own any of their albums, which would be the best to get first?

guitarpro 12.04.2006 03:28 AM

Husker Du Rocks!!!

All their stuff is fuckin great

sun city girl 12.04.2006 03:43 AM

zen arcade

UVRAY 12.04.2006 03:49 AM

Personally I like Metal Circus and Candy Apple Grey.

sonicl 12.04.2006 03:54 AM

Do you want their best, or a good place to start?

Best: Zen Arcade
Good place to start: Candy Apple Grey

ZEROpumpkins 12.04.2006 05:31 AM

Thanks, guys. I will buy either Candy Apple Grey or Zen Arcade tomorrow assuming it's in stock. Perhaps i'll buy both.

Onani Nic 12.04.2006 05:34 AM

I used to like Zen Arcade best but now my favourite has to be New Day Rising

Aaagh! Serious memory failure. Good place to start should be Flip Your Wig. Candy Apple Grey is good, but I prefer Wig.

khchris(original) 12.04.2006 05:58 AM

i would start at flip your wig. candy apple was ok, wherehouse would be better if half the songs were dropped.

my favorite is new day rising, though i love zen & land/speed.

Pookie 12.04.2006 06:13 AM

Best: New Day Rising

Buy: Land Speed Record
Metal Circus
Zen Arcade

Maybe: Everything Falls Apart
Flip Your Wig

Don't bother: Candy Apple Grey
Warehouse: Songs & Stories

In my opinion.

_slavo_ 12.04.2006 06:31 AM

Zen Arcade to me.

Gulasch Noir 12.04.2006 07:26 AM

land speed record

Thomas Moronic 12.04.2006 09:49 AM

I really like Warehouse, there are some really nice melodies on there.

Everyneurotic 12.04.2006 11:11 AM

it's that time of the month already?

land speed record or die, the others are for pussies.

sonic sphere 12.04.2006 12:50 PM

zen arcade is the only one i know well but new day rising is good too

Daddylikes 12.04.2006 04:22 PM

Daydream Nation.

k-krack 12.04.2006 04:29 PM

I've only got Warehouse, and I quite like it...

!@#$%! 12.04.2006 08:49 PM

sorry to crap on this thread but EEWWW

candy apple grey sounds so 80's in a very bad way-- in a way that makes me feel this music didn't survive its own time-- horribly dated!

khchris 12.04.2006 11:21 PM

I forgot to mention that unless you saw them in 85 (like me :)), you cannot truly appreciate the Du like me.

Nope, you're not a trueDu fan.

finding nobody 12.04.2006 11:27 PM

This dude knows what he's talkin about^
*he was in the band*

gmku 12.05.2006 01:03 AM

Zen Arcade is nice but I also like Metal Circus.

strictlycommercial 12.05.2006 08:15 AM

Warehouse makes me happy and nauseas at the same time.

Go with Zen Arcade. The best place to start is Metal Circus, but it's so damn short you'd probably feel done if you payed a lot for it.

CHOUT 12.05.2006 01:34 PM

PErsonally I say New Day Rising is a great album to start with. Definitely not Candy Apple Grey.

mental ray 12.05.2006 06:26 PM

Bah I never really liked 'Zen Arcade'...' Warehouse..' is one of my favourites alongside with 'Flip your Wig'...

cryptowonderdruginvogue 12.05.2006 06:53 PM

Zen Arcade

Norma J 12.05.2006 07:07 PM

Only own Flip Your Wig. Never really got into it.

That's because it's mediocre.

Try Metal Circus or New Day Rising.

ZEROpumpkins 12.06.2006 05:03 AM

Uhh I went into the shop and they only had Warehouse. I went on a trek around the centre for Zen Arcade and some store is stocking in a few days. So until then...

thanks, i'll also look into buying one of those. they're like 25 euros in this record store :(

Pax Americana 12.07.2006 12:18 AM

Zen Arcade is a long time fav for me.

CHOUT 12.07.2006 12:26 AM

Land Speed Record may turn a newbie off, due to it's bootleg like quality. If you wanna check out their more Hardcore side, Everything Falls Apart is pretty great to my ears. There are some great bonus tracks on the cd reissue (In A Free Land being one of my all time favorite songs).

ZEROpumpkins 12.09.2006 01:07 AM

I bought Zen Arcade (not from the store who said they had it stocked however). I'm listening now, what should I buy next assuming I like it?

well that album is absolutely all over the place so with regards to that i'll definitely say get Metal Circus next. i really dont know what some of these people are on about. Zen Arcade is their best hands down no contest. i think theyre really just being contrary. Metal Circus is pretty short so youre not really going to get much of a fix so i'd go with Everything Falls Apart after this. My 4th fav is Land Speed Record. ive never understood the complaints about the recording quality. it sounds fine. but if you dont like sraight up old style hardcore well thats what it is. completely different sound from the other records. everything falls apart is in no way a hardcore record the way this one is. peopel who dont like hardcore can enjoy that one but its absolutely not the case with Land Speed Record.

i'm actually not a real big fan of anything else theyve done. New Day Rising is a completely inept and feeble follow up to a monument like Zen Arcade. I Apologize?! you fucking better because that song is not worthy to lick the boots of the worst song on Zen Arcade.

CHOUT 12.09.2006 01:14 PM

I love New Day Rising and think I Apologize is a brilliant song. Inept? Ha.

Well I figure we all have very similar music tastes. Most of my other purchases have been made by my own decision, and because you guys seem to know what you're talking about...

EDIT:
Nice Deluxe Muff, CHOUT. Yours?

ok fair enough i'll listen to it again but the last time i played that album was at a party and i had to take it off after that song because it was such a monumental flop. but to be fair it was following daydream nation in its entirety which of course brought down the house.

CHOUT 12.10.2006 02:46 AM

girl who lives on heaven hill, 59 times the pain, if i told you, celebrated summer, powerline - oh man tons of brilliant songs on New Day Rising.
