Holy Calamity! The (Sonic) Parents Thread

Inspired by my own recent journey into the realm of fatherhood (10/17/06) and by Pookie's recent addition to his family, as well as the other boardies with kids, here is the parents thread, roll call.

jon boy 12.04.2006 06:37 AM

RdTv 12.04.2006 06:49 AM

Here's a picture of the little guy with my wife.

ALIEN ANAL 12.04.2006 06:52 AM

RdTv 12.04.2006 06:56 AM

alteredcourse 12.04.2006 07:15 AM

when the lengths of toes are set on a harsh angle ; also known as pizza feet , for their similarity to a slice of pie .

ALIEN ANAL 12.04.2006 07:21 AM

isn't it also called an "egyptian foot", when the longest toe is one of the toes in the middle (usually the second toe)?... as opposed to the "greek foot" where the longest toe is the thumb and the length of the toes are in descending order?... (i'm not sure i make myself very clear here)

at least, it is called this way in French...

o o o 12.04.2006 08:16 AM

ok, so i checked, those terms exist in english, but i mixed up the the definitions. the one with the second toe that is actually longer than all the others is in fact the greek one:

RdTv 12.04.2006 09:06 AM

Thank you all for the compliments, but lets hear more from you parents out there.

Pookie 12.04.2006 01:27 PM

Lovely baby. How old is (s)he?

You can't beat parenthood. I'm saying this from the point of view of having a son who was born 5 weeks early, causing much worry and sleepless nights, and a 3 year old who has had to deal with the upheaval at the same time. She expressed her anger and frustration this afternoon by biting me on the belly. Luckily I've got plenty of padding in that area.

Still my boy Seth has come home from the hospital today so thing's will be more 'normal' now.

Lovely picture by the way RdTv. The only picture we have of Seth at the moment has him with a drip and other wires protruding from him, so I can't wait to get some decent ones taken.

EDIT: I should say biting is out of character for Kitty, before anybody thinks I'm a BAD parent. She's gorgeous and a joy normally.

HaydenAsche 12.04.2006 01:30 PM

I'm never ever having children. Fuck that.

It's not for everybody.

Oh, yes. I like some kids. I'm glad some people are parents. I didn't mean to offend.

Pookie 12.04.2006 01:38 PM

No offense. I just think parenthood is not for everybody.

Pacafeliz 12.04.2006 01:57 PM

...someday, someday.
been married for almost 1 1/2 years now, and going step-by-step. maybe next year... or, when it happens, i'll accept the gift gratefully!
good luck and congrats!

Pat.

static-harmony 12.04.2006 02:17 PM

I am going to adopt a child when i am older and more financially stable and found the right guy I am with. cause I do want kids.

RdTv 12.04.2006 03:18 PM

My baby boy is doing fine and is about 7 weeks old. Like kegmama said it is the most irrational and I might add impractical thing one could do. Oh and his name is Vaughn Elias Tovar

I don't know where I would be, who I would be, or what I would be doing without my kids. They have made me a better person, a stronger woman; I am happy and content because of them, they make my life worth living.

Can't add much to that.

This kind of thing is probably very boring to those without children. All the things people tell you beforehand mean nothing until you've actually experienced parenthood.

I now want to hear the things you do with your children. What do they enjoy doing? What music do they like? Do you have any special places you like to visit with them?

At the moment I'm watching Snoopy Gets Married with Kitty. She should have been in bed hours ago but we've all had an odd week so our routine (as it was) has gone to pot.

RdTv 12.04.2006 06:20 PM

So far Vaughn likes Coltrane and Sister LP.

RdTv 12.04.2006 06:33 PM

I really haven't exposed V to that many artists as of yet, so far its been Coltrane when he gets a bath especially 'naima' off of Giant Steps, and various others afterward, what stimulates him a lot is Sister, I think its the diversity of the album. Oh and nice suggestion with the dancing, I may have to implement that policy when Mr. Vaughn ages some.

cryptowonderdruginvogue 12.04.2006 06:38 PM

cuuuuuuuteeee kids!!!

Pookie 12.04.2006 06:38 PM

Kitty has always loved dancing. We too clear the living room and dance away the afternoon.

She has a wide-ranging musical taste. Rocket From The Tomb was an early favourite, but now it's SY, The Pogues, a lot of Northern Soul and 60's/70's funk, jazz, anything with a beat really.

In fact when asked what music she wants to dance to, she usually just asks for "Daddy's music". Good girl.

porkmarras 12.04.2006 06:38 PM

A suggestion to all you parents:
Get them to log in and have fun with all us children on here.

Unlike her Dad, she's got better things to be doing.

Alex's Trip 12.04.2006 07:39 PM

I don't think I'll ever want kids, but that is just me. My little sister was born when I was 9, so that is all I think I'll ever need.

My English teacher has two kids. He got something funny on tape on put it on google video and showed it to us today.

no, seriously, i have this friends who have a pair of 5-year old twins who are fucking insane! i was making them paper planes the other day, and i would LOVE to have kids like that. the crazier the better. but not yet, not yet... need to sort out a few things first.

Thankfully Kellian has been corrupted at an early age too. She loves SY, her fav songs lately are Titanium Expose, Kool Thing, Goo and Sugar Kane. She also loves Nirvana, Sleater Kinney, Weezer, Modest Mouse, Beck the Raconteurs, etc. We watched Corporate Ghost together again the other night though and she asked me why SY vids are so 'cheesy'.

A common occurence in the Kegger's household is after dinner and bath time, before bed; we move the living room table, turn up a cd and the kids and mama dance like it's nobody's business until bedtime.

Man, I wish I were yr kids!!! You are rad.

Ditto.

Cantankerous 12.04.2006 09:42 PM

i'm not sure about kids sometime. every friday i have a responsibility to an 8-month old baby which is fantastic and also quite draining.

kegmama you remind me of my mom.
spookie, best of luck with the new one and let's hope kitty doesn't make a habit of biting you.

krastian 12.05.2006 01:05 AM

I've always wanted kids, but the whole "being queer" thing has definitely thrown a bizzare wrench into those plans.
