Mike Patton I guess

I could really care less, but I'm bored and hungover.

Faith No More?
Mr Bungle?
Fantomas?
Tomahawk?
Dillinger Escape plan?

Damn fucking polls fucking up.

marleypumpkin 12.13.2006 10:07 PM

Hey, I'm a Patton fan, but I will admit, most of his stuff is just pretty odd.

Here are the Patton groups listed above that I like:

Faith No More
Mr. Bungle
Fantomas
Tomahawk

LifeDistortion 12.13.2006 10:24 PM

When the polls are fixed put me on there for Faith No More. I like Tomahawk a lot too, can't get into the Fantomas at all, and haven't heard very much of Mr. Bungle either. You forgot Peeping Tom also, although never got into that either. I admire his experimentation but that doesn't mean its always listenable.

Very well said. It's hit or miss w/ Patton's projects sometimes.

noisemachine 12.13.2006 11:43 PM

Wouldn't really consider DEP a Patton project since he only guest vocaled on a 4 song ep of theirs. You should put Peeping Tom in its place if the poll gets fixed. You may as well also list him only (he did 2 solo albums). Also, there was a project he did called Lovage, but I hear it wasn't that great.

Norma J 12.14.2006 12:21 AM

I know he was only on the Irony is a Dead Scene EP. If the poll was successful you'd be picking what your favourite of his shit is - which could very well be DEP.

FNM is my fav of his works, the live stuff is fucking excellent!

Oh yeah, I've seen several Fantomas live DVD's, & the timing is soo perfect even in their live shows, it's amazing. & as far as "Loveage" goes, I actually found it to be a interesting listen. It kept my interest @ a high, if you consider that a crudential for good music.

Norma J 12.14.2006 01:11 AM

From the live stuff of seen of Tomahawk it's really cool. Patton wears a gas-mask with a mic in it for certain songs. Not to mention it has Dwayne from The Jesus Lizard and John Stanier of Helmet and the Mark of Cain.

marleypumpkin 12.14.2006 01:13 AM

I've yet to hear live Tomahawk stuff, but from what I've heard of their albums, I can say that the live version of it must be pretty damn good.

Everyneurotic 12.14.2006 01:27 AM

tomahawk are amazing, fantomas are mostly fantastic, but the rest, no, i don't think so...some of his stuff with zorn is cool, though.

Norma J 12.14.2006 01:29 AM

God Hates a Coward is so fucking good. Gives me shivers down my spine watching how good it is. That is actually the live performance I saw live on tele. So cheers for that.

Inhuman 12.14.2006 01:30 AM

Niiicceee, my brother came in with new albums today! This is the first time I even hear of Mike Patton, and he's on this CD in front of me. "John Zorn's ASTRONOMA". I'm going to listen to it tomorrow, the album art looks really promising as well.

Everyneurotic 12.14.2006 01:34 AM

ohh and, for future references, mike patton is not groundbreaking at all, he's no innovator; he's mostly a bad yamatsuka eye immitator unless he is singing, he's a better singer than a voice whatever he thinks he is.

Norma J 12.14.2006 01:38 AM

I wanna lock Betty Crocker in the kitchen
And knock her upper during supper
Clutter up her butter gutter
Hostess Ding Dong wrapped an eggroll around my wong
While Dolly Madison proceded to ping my pong
Your Milky Way is M'n'M in your britches
And I'll tell you Baby Ruth it looks mighty delicious
Keep blowing my gum, cuz here I come
I'm gonna get you all sticky with my Bubble Yum

Knick knack paddywhack and give your dog a bone, baby

I was givin' some head to some french bread
It was a four course orgy on the spread of my bed
French kissin' french fries in my Fruit of the Looms
I get deeper penetration with a fork and a spoon

I got yogurt meat loaf smeared all over my ass
I stick my weiner in two buns and and then give it the gas
Sour cream from my spleen into Levi jeans
Gonna bust the seams with my refried beans

Ronald McDonald just loves to be fondled
With Big Mac he'll fuck it like a Chicken McNugget
Colonel Sanders wants to goose Granny's loose caboose
He's gonna give her a boost with that Kentucky fried juice
Sooper doop poop scoop, loop de loop, chicken coop
Shoot some hoop, top sirloin from the groin
Topped with dick cheese, sneeze, wheeze,
From the skeez disease, wooi!

Take a dump, baby, squirt some gravy
Pour some sugar on me, honey, make it brown & runny
Give a little Flavor Flav, back from the grave
Gonna burn some toast, pump some humpin' rump roast

Knick knack paddywhack, jump in the sack, in fact
Jerk the smack and crack Jack from the back
Bananarama or ramabanana
Fuckin' Barry Manilow on the Copa Cabana

Squeeze me macaroni, slop your face with my bologna

You gotta syphon the spinach, you gotta cream the corn
Sperm scrambles the eggs and a meal is born
Cookin' like a beginner, but I'm goin' up in her
I had Fritos for lunch I'm havin' bush for dinner
Chef Boyardee and the Three Muskateers
Shove Charleston Chews in their rears like queers
"Holy moly, guacamole!" said my Chips Ahoy
I'm gonna pinch a ravioli on the Pillsbury dough...Tall man

Knick knack paddywhack and give your dog a boner, baby

We came to pottie...we came to pottie down your throat

val-holla-ing 12.14.2006 02:20 AM

no lie, i have almost everything he's put out. i really love the stuff he does with john zorn, especially.

my girlfriend doesn't like mr. bungle and since we live together, i don't listen to it much anymore.

Cantankerous 12.14.2006 02:32 AM

i don't particularly care for faith no more but i do like some stuff he's done with tomahawk.

I really love Tomahawk: Both of their albums are so heavy and fucking powerful they make me wanna start a riot.

I went to a Fantómas show once... It blew my mind. They control their sonical caos so damn good, how they can play that weird stuff in such a perfect way is beyond my comprehension.

Lovage really made me wanna have some good sex with my girlfriend.

The Dillinger escape plan with Mike Patton Irony is a dead scene record is one of my favourites EPs ever.

I consider every Mr. Bungle record a fucking masterpiece.

Dying to hear his Tzadik released records, The Executioners, and Peeping Tom, though.

Maybe i´ve got some Patton stuff somewhere. Hope to upload something in the next few days.

Yeah. I´m a Patton fan.
`nuff said!

peeping tom and the x-ecutioners (or however the hell you say it) are the least favorites i've heard of his. i wouldn't say that he's an eYe impersonator, i'd rather say that i'd love to hear an album with both of them screaming with one another.

LifeDistortion 12.14.2006 02:41 AM

I saw Tomahawk live, they were great. And yeah they really play the record quite faithfully. No he's not a god, but Patton has a voice that nobody else can touch. Wheter he's crooning like a lounge singer or screaming like a goddamn banshee. I was just thinking the other day, when the third Tomahawk album will be released, I thought it would be out before the end of 06' but I haven't heard any news.

Agreed.

He has alot of range with his voice, he can manipulate his voice to do things others wouldn't even imagine to do. He's also got the balls to do stuff that most don't and wont.

I haven't heard any Peeping Tom.

marleypumpkin 12.14.2006 03:41 AM

Peeping Tom really shoouldn't be classified w/ the other Patton styled groups. It's more or less just hip-hop beats.

Indeed. It annoys me (more than it should) when people talk of MP being groundbreaking. What he does has been done by others before (and better).

Onani Nic 12.14.2006 06:02 AM

I can't stand the dude, should probably check our Tomahawk but haven't because Patton is in them

This is funny, Mike Patton makes fun of Wolfmother for being stuck in the 70's but beforehand he is talking about making 1960's Italian Orchestra music or something.

*Note: I also hate Wolfmother.

at least he's choosing to emulate something worth two squirts. and it's not like that's the only style he's been focusing on, either. wolfmother on the other hand are pretty much stuck to their one sound b/c that's how they market themselves.

and they suck.

Rob Instigator 12.14.2006 03:49 PM

I like the first and second MR BUNGLE,

I like angel dust from Faith No More and some of real thing

k-krack 12.14.2006 04:24 PM

I don't really care for Mr Bungle or Faith No More or Fantomas... but I just checked out some Tomahawk and Dillinger, and they are fucking kick-ass. Especially DEP.

Ahhh, that's just hatin' for the sake of hatin', Pookie.

Also, I must state, I never said anything about him being god or anything about his voice. I merely put the bands that he has contributed in up for nomination. But he does have a fucking great voice, but I dig him more for his creativity than soley on his voice.

Right on, man.

All DEP is cool.

val-holla-ing 12.14.2006 07:22 PM

i didn't like that album they did after "irony is a dead scene". the guy was trying too hard to sound like mike patton, i think.

Norma J 12.14.2006 10:25 PM

I don't think he is. I think he's got alot of his own style. It's a good album I think. He fits them more so than Patton.

val-holla-ing 12.14.2006 11:22 PM

you think? i think patton was perfect for them (at least for that ep). maybe i didn't give that other album a fair chance, though.

val-holla-ing 12.14.2006 11:51 PM

i didn't say that they weren't. i said the album after 'irony is a dead scene' wasn't as good, in my opinion, because it seemed as if dillinger's new singer was trying a bit to hard to sound like mike patton. that alone turned me off from that particular album.

noisemachine 12.15.2006 12:20 AM

Was lookin through all the mike patton stuff on youtube and thought this was pretty funny:
