James Brown dies at 73
AP - 40 minutes ago ATLANTA - James Brown, the dynamic, pompadoured "Godfather of Soul," whose rasping vocals and revolutionary rhythms made him a giant of R&B and an inspiration for rap, funk and disco, died early Christmas morning. He was 73. Brown was hospitalized with pneumonia at Emory Crawford Long Hospital on Sunday and died around 1:45 a.m. Monday, said his agent, Frank Copsidas of Intrigue Music. http://news.yahoo.com/fc/entertainment/james_brown |

no one can say he didnt have an amazing life. |
In the words of Charles Bukowski, when someone dies let at least one man stand up and say what an odious gathering of cells that man was.
So, James Brown, the wife beater, arsonist, armed robber and thief has died? Good riddance to bad rubbish. Ohh, I feel good. :D |

james brown, prior insanity, was awesome, seriously, there would be no hip-hop w/out him, hugely influential, no funk. he was an original, more than you can say about most shit.

Have you seen the man with the golden crotch?
Who oiled the souls of this town of teenage girls. Have you seen the man with the flaxen wig? Who brought this city to its knees, who left it lusting. Have you seen the man who lathers his face featureless? Because incognito blood won't need to clot, and if your wearing a bullseye then your gonna get shot |

I heard about this yesterday. What can anyone say? Life's a killer, at least so says Burroughs, I suppose the bottom line is that James Brown made some really good music and influenced countless people, honestly almost too much of the soul/funk genre can be traced back to him. Without Mr. Brown, the whole genre of hip hop would be completely different and wouldn't have half of the drum breaks and samples that have made many of the songs great. That being said, I feel for his family and close friends. As far as his fans go, well I'm one of them and I suppose its not all too shocking, considering the lifestyle he had lived and his age, regardless the best way to remember him is by queing up ''The Payback'' or ''Hell'' in your musical device. Oh and remember him like this:
