MV & EE and The Bummer Road: Green Blues

Can't wait to hear this... it is for me probably my most anticipated recording to start off 2007.

it's been officially out in europe for a while, but that's probably expensive to order if you're in the US. i bought mine at one of their shows in october. it didn't really grab me at first, but it's starting to grow on me in the last couple of weeks.

in europe, where???

whorefrost 01.01.2007 09:32 AM

everywhere. i got my copy couple of months back. it's great, this coming from a fellow who has never fully embraced 'free folk' or whatever.

PAULYBEE2656 01.01.2007 10:17 AM

its great. stuck in car for the last week or so pissing off my missus!

sun city girl 01.01.2007 12:28 PM

still haven't listened to that last double-disc, the tour thing with orange cover, whatever it was called... they're making too many records! but i guess i'll get that green blues at some point though.

dnorsen 01.02.2007 10:25 AM

got this a month or more back from EP and its fuckin' fantastic. didn't realize it still wasn't out, but man oh man hands down one of the best albums coming out this year. i actually have 2 copies of the disc, the retail version and another that came in a xerox 'zine with a promo copy disc (same songs, same production) but with a video attached of byron and thurston jiving about the disc...

yeah i got an orange cd. its the philly show and is pretty damn good.

i have to say that at atp they never really kicked in until corsano hit the stage.

tesla69 01.02.2007 01:25 PM

they did put out a bunch of discs in 2006, culminating in the live CDrs they were selling in Europe. I haven't decided if I need to pick those up. So far my fears of them dilluting the brand have been unfounded, but I think there were 4 major releases last year, I barely have time to listen through stuff. CDrs are the cassette of our time. I'm getting sick of 'em.

Bollocks_to_Pop 01.02.2007 02:01 PM

I've been listening to Mother of Thousands to hold me over till Green Blues comes out. I really can't wait though. Any other Bummer Road or MV recordings you guys would recommend?

It's the Philly show from Big Jar books 8/11/06?

Everyneurotic 01.02.2007 07:14 PM

the last song is very awesome, with corsano going nuts on drums and the second and third songs are great, i love the way they mix the fuzzy riffing guitar with the more folky elements of their sound, but overall, it's hippie bullshit; i was itching to take it off halfway thru it, i almost missed the last song because of it. it would have been an amazing ep, but it's a boring lp.

my favorite mv & ee is with the holoscanner exhibition.

The Ego Synchronicity Music one? I thought that one was pretty weak. And I think that's without Erika Elder and it's pretty much Tower Recordings line up and Marcia Basset appears on it as well I think.

Toilet & Bowels 01.02.2007 10:53 PM

so what are albums by them then? i love the tower recordings but i've never really got round to checking out mv&ee

The 97th Hammer 01.03.2007 01:32 AM

I know MV+EE are playing Iowa City in a month or two, so I'll look forward to checking them out firsthand.

The Green Road is a great way to start out the year! Its been awhile since the last mv/ee release - at least 6 months - and their sound has refined itself - some of the songs sound a bit like early 90's Royal Trux, just a loose and free style of playing with M/F vocs singing together.

Some of the touru info has chanegd from above, psyched to see them Friday

from the time-lag list, pretty crazy:

MV/EE AND THE BUMMER ROAD ~ DEEP SPACE CIRCUIT - FULL LIVE SET ~ 12cdr (heroine) $55.00
for those of you who just didn’t get enough from the ‘deep space circuit’ 2cdr, this should keep you dosed for awhile... the entire summer tour captured live & totally united. all full shows. sweet mastering. each disc in its own sleeve all tied up thread. extremely limited tour only release. last few copies here, then they’re gone. act fast.

They were selling these sets as individual CDrs while on tour last year in the UK.

dnorsen 02.02.2007 09:28 AM

i went to the show in somerville last night and it was fuckin' great. couple tracks off green blues, but for the most part a complete solid set leaning towards the singer song writer side yet still with some craziness in between...

thanks, i'm listening to this now.
i agree with what you wrote about the vocals, the first 25 minutes or so are really good and then the vocals come in... especially matt valentine's... brrr.

tesla69 06.05.2007 08:08 AM

Hey the Golden Road is on the road again..as ever I'm always looking for new taper contacts - hard drive recorders are friends too. If you're inclined, mv/ee are extremely positive to fan taping and will help you out.
