Good News for People Who Love Bad News was a fucking fantastic album. Why do so many people (especially on this board) dislike it? Is it a 'I'm so anti-something therefore I'm so pro-indie' thing?

I don't hate the album, it got me into Modest Mouse. I just like the new song better and think that the high points of Moon in Anartica were much better than Good News.

blech! I hate Modest Mouse. they are just a cheap knock off of Built to Spill. It's like how Phish is a marginally talented ripoff of Grateful dead.

Whether or not you like Phish, they're still talented as fuck....all four of them. Just because they have improvised parts in their live shows doesn't really mean they "ripped off" the Dead. Phish don't really sound like the Dead anyway.
